Season 3 of The Kitchen Day Podcast is days away. These are the folks backing us to bring our service stories to the world.

🔹 Season Partner Droppah | Rostering Built for Hospo
Aka The Roster Gods, these guys make rostering easy for busy hospo teams. Fun fact: they’ve been on board since Day 1 💪

🔸 Supporting Partner BLANC
Angie is a force in the w**e distribution space, and one of hospo’s most passionate cheerleaders.

🔸 Supporting Partner Tevalis New Zealand
It’s the POS system I use at my venues, and the back of house reporting is second to none.

🔸 Supporting Partner Goodman Fielder Foodservice NZ
A key supplier to our industry, these guys support operators and back cool initiatives like the NZ Aeropress Championship - award winning! - legends.

🎥 Season 3 is recorded, edited and produced by Jono Tucker Jono Tucker

Most of the episodes this season were filmed Apero Food & W**e, with a couple shot Restaurant & Bar.

A quick reminder that our next Kitchen Day event is October - we’re taking a break in September after the two epic events we hosted this month. I’m not usually one for moderation but I have laundry and sleep to catch up on 💅

Remember, anyone who works in hospo - up and down the motu - is welcome to attend Kitchen Day. It’s free, it’s fun, and I send all the details out in a monthly newsletter that you can sign up for on our website.

George Motz at Kitchen Day here in Wellington, NZ - now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d write ⭐️

Loved this conversation with George Motz Hamburger America. He might not like me saying it but George is a visionary - a professional cinematographer who happened to see the beauty and richness in long held hospitality traditions, and who now spends his life preserving the very craft he showcased in his pivotal documentary all those years ago.

Go watch Hamburger America now. It’s a masterpiece.

“Anyone can be an expert, so long as they’ve got a tonne of passion, and a tonne of knowledge”

A huge thanks to Hamish and Caroline Conscious Valley for supplying the incredible beef we used in George’s burgers.

A huge thank you to Beth Brash Visa Wellington On a Plate for making these introductions and orchestrating some serious talent to join us here in Welly this month. It’s been so much fun hanging out with these legends and getting them in a room full of hospo for a day.

Thank you George Motz, Deirdre and Mauri for bringing a taste of Hamburger America to Wellington, NZ. We have loved every bite.

Just got sent these pics from@Brent Robinson who’s in NYC right now and just stopped by Hamburger America. Iconic behaviour from Brent as per. This should get the tastebuds tingling ahead of George Motz’s Kitchen Day session on Monday. How mad is it that we have The Burger Scholar in the house with us!? Hey Visa Wellington On a Plate love your work. 🍔

That’s a wrap on our Tāmaki episodes for Season 3 (!!) of the Kitchen Day podcast 🎙️💫

I’ve had *the best* week sitting across from people in this industry whom I admire GREATLY and having them tell me (us!) their stories, letting us in on their journeys and processes and all the wild lessons learned along the way.

A huge huge mihi to these incredible icons -
Brandon Lela’ulu PREGO RESTAURANT, Jared-lyron Faasalele at Red Rabbit Coffee, Charles Williams at Bowler , Judith Tabron at First Mates, Last Laugh, Leah Kirkland at Onslow GILT Brasserie at Chancery Chambers, Mr al keating, the gorgeous Nici Wickes and Emma Rogan from Hello Beasty 🎩🎩🎩

Biiiig love to Les and Mo for letting us set up shop Apero Food & W**e - sorry for eating so many of Mo’s MacKintosh lollies 🍬

Something fun I did this season was really dress for the occasion and I got to really push the boat out with help from the talented Bonny Beattie whose wardrobe is every woman’s wonderland 👗

I couldn’t do these crazy things without the help and support of my main squeeze Hayden McMillan who holds down the fort for me at home when I’m off playing grown ups

And to the legend that is Jono Tucker Jono Tucker thank you so much for making me look and sound so profesh, you can literally build a podcast studio anywhere and I couldn’t be more grateful that we’ve got you in our corner!

Two more eps to go back home before we edit and release (looking at you Sophie Egan and Justin McKenzie 👀)

Final word / how excellent and magic is hospitality and the people who have devoted their lives to it?! What an important and special industry, so worthy of our respect. This is not just food and w**e, it’s deeper than that. I really hope these conversations continue to lift the industry and attract more talented people to it.

Thanks for being here!

What a singular experience having Rodney Scott in the house, sharing his story with our hospitality community.

A remarkable man, a truly remarkable story, and a South Carolina menu we’ll never forget.

Thank you so much, sir. It was an absolute privilege.

Kitchen Day is free to attend for hospo - always has been and always will be - because a bunch of generous sponsors front up with the cash and the produce and the support to make it happen. I couldn’t do it without them 🙏🏽

This August, I’m humbly asking everyone who attends our sessions to extend that generosity on to our friends at Everybody Eats if you can.

August is a huge month for hospo with the fun and games of Visa Wellington On a Plate, but at the same time there are thousands of Wellingtonians still struggling to put food on the table. That’s where Everybody Eats steps in.

And if you’re not in Wellington or don’t work in hospo, don’t let that stop you! You can donate to Everybody Eats through their website 💫 Every dollar counts.
