We know the name 'Pike River' only too well - memories of New Zealand's worst workplace disaster in living memory drive the passion of many OHS professionals determined that such a tragedy shouldn't be repeated.

We urge you to go and see Pike River the movie. It’s a beautifully woven story of courage and resourcefulness in the face of tragedy then injustice. It's a timely reminder that often justice comes from struggle against unfairness and complacency.

One of the recurring themes from the recent Safeguard HOP Conference was “Work As Done” often referred to as everyday work or regular work. Leaders play an important part in determining whether the gap between Work As Imagined and Work As Done is seen as a Threat or an Opportunity. This lens will drive organisational decision making across Work Design, Critical Risks and Worker Engagement.

NZISM's "Close the Gap" workshop roadshow starts in less than a week and in it Brent Sutton will be considering - amongst other things - the role that Safety Practitioners play in positioning “Work As Done” as an opportunity to learn and improve.
