A $30 million avocado opportunity?

New Zealanders consume around 3kg of avocado per person each year. Across the Tasman, Australians consume 4.7kg.

NZ Avocado estimates that moving closer to Australian consumption levels could lift the domestic wholesale market from around $60 million to more than $90 million annually.

With a potentially record avocado season ahead, the size of that consumption gap becomes particularly interesting.
