In just a couple days, KÜĪ is having its Western Canadian premiere at GEMfest Film Festival 2026!

We’re screening in the BLAZE block on Sunday, March 8 at 1:30pm (PST) at the VIFF Centre (main VIFF Cinema), and we’ll be zooming in for a Q&A right after.

📌Our film is competing for the ’Best Short Film for a Youth Audience 15+’ Jury Award and will be screening before the feature film Nawi on Sunday, October 5th at 10:00am (BST) at the Queen’s Film Theatre in Belfast.

Manaia, a young woman caught between expectation and self-acceptance, finds herself confronting her repressed sexuality when a chance reunion with her first love stirs old feelings.

Wow, shookth! A huge thank you to the jury and the Rhode Island community for the honour of receiving this award. Thank you for providing a platform where people can experience our film in this corner of the world. Big love to everyone who was part of our journey from the beginning and throughout!

To our cast and crew: Every single person we approached for this film said ‘yes’ without hesitation. So grateful for each and every one of you! To our actors and especially our brave lead, Genevive, who had never acted before - we’ve created something truly special & so real for a lot of people watching worldwide, thank you for the trust. We’re excited to announce that ”KÜĪ” / Mother will be screening at the 43rd Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival from August 5th-10th! Their biggest festival selection yet! Our film is competing for a couple jury awards and will be featured on the big screen as part of the official competition during the festival week!
