Fashion Club Inc. ART MODEL SERIES #1 PART 2

Ana Marija

5. How do you work with photographers and stylists to achieve the desired look?

- In my opinion, good communication is imperative for a great photoshoot. Before the shoot, I communicate with the photographer and stylist to understand their vision and the desired look.

I ask questions about the theme, mood, and style they want to achieve, and I share my own ideas and preferences. This helps us create a cohesive and collaborative plan for the shoot. I research the brand, the designer, and the collection to understand the aesthetic and the message they want to convey. I also prepare myself by studying poses, expressions, and movements that will be required for the shoot.

During the shoot, I take direction from the photographer and stylist, and I am open to their feedback and suggestions. I make sure to listen to their instructions and adjust my poses, expressions, and movements accordingly.

6. What do you think makes a successful collaboration in the modelling industry?

- I believe a successful collaboration happens when the team and the model are truly invested in the project from start to finish. When the mission is the same, it creates a beautifully successful outcome. I feel that mutual respect fosters a positive and inclusive work environment, where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work. Recognizing and valuing the diversity of perspectives, skills, and backgrounds that each individual brings to the table.

7. Are you open to trying new and creative concepts suggested by the team?

- Creativity inspires some individuals to try new things, and I am one of those individuals. I would gladly accept new concepts if they align with who I am at the moment. Being creative is beautiful, and trying new things is always exciting for me! I am here to learn and improve, and I value the input and expertise of the team.

8. What challenges have you encountered in your modelling career?

- Oh, I believe all models come across some of these challenges like dealing with rejection and criticism, difficulty finding work-life balance, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, navigating the industry, unpredictable jobs & income, extreme stress levels, and severe muscle pain.

9. How do you maintain a healthy body image and self-confidence in the modelling industry?

- I personally really like to approach the mindful side of life by focusing on inner beauty: Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on inner qualities such as kindness, empathy, and resilience.

These qualities are timeless and cannot be altered by external factors.

Practicing self-care: Taking care of my physical and mental health by getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and eating a balanced diet. Engaging in activities that bring me joy and help me relax, such as meditation, yoga, or painting and drawing.

I listen to my body; I don't overeat in the evening. I feel like a half-empty stomach is good. I believe our bodies and brains work at their best only when the stomach is half empty; that's when I meditate and exercise. After my meals, I always try to relax.

10. What are your goals as a model in the next year?

- My aspirations are, I want to grow as a model. To enhance and improve, to diversify my portfolio by working with different photographers, stylists, and designers.

I want to take on every good opportunity I am given in the fashion industry as well explore more of the acting and film industry. I am so excited for the next year big reveal for the upcoming NZ movie where I was given an acting role.

Would love to build new strong connections within the fashion industry.

To connect with designers, photographers, stylists and other models.

Fashion Club Inc. ART MODEL SERIES #1 PART 1

Ana Marija

Fashion Club Inc. ART had a detailed conversation with model Ana Marija to explore the world of her modelling career in New Zealand. This marks the start of our multi-part series, beginning with Ana.

1. How did you start your modelling career?

- I always admired Art & Fashion. I had an opportunity to work in theatre, taking part in music videos, acting in NZ Movie. Then I had a request from a hair stylist if I would like to model for Loreal shortly after that I modelled for Swarovski and that was the beginning of my modelling journey.

2. What motivated you to become a model?

- I consider myself an artist and I find modelling to be part of my artistic engagement I guess my reasons for choosing modelling is pure expression of my artistic ethics.

3. Do you have experience in runway or commercial modelling?

-Yes, I have developed experience for both runway and commercial modelling. It’s been a huge privilege to have had the opportunity of meeting so many strong inspirational people from the fashion industry, all the designers, makeup artists, stylists, photographers and all the people I worked with especially the team Red11.

4. How do you prepare for a photoshoot or runway show?

- Hmm. Its's only a simple routine. I always try to develop positive attitude and try to keep my body fit and healthy. Beauty comes from within it's really how you are feeling inside your mind and body. I don't follow a very strict exercise or diet regime, but I like mindfulness, yoga and meditation as well I follow a vegetarian diet.

Also, I love a good ice bath for my face especially before a photoshoot. For the runway show I always practice and switch different style of shoes, so I am comfortable in whatever the designer may ask me to wear.

I show up without makeup just moisturised face, removed nail polish from fingers and toes, washed and natural hair. Always have my runway show model bag ready with all the tools I need for the day to go smoothly and less stressful.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Ana Marija's story.

The path fashion models walk alongside fashion.

1. The Power of Portfolios: Showcase Diversity and Individuality

A fashion model's portfolio functions as their resume. Create a portfolio that highlights your unique personality, incorporating photos showcasing a range of styles, moods, editorials, and highlight designer shows you have participated in. Sharing diverse examples of fashion modelling within your portfolio is crucial for demonstrating your versatility and expertise.

2. The Importance of Collaborating with Modelling Agencies

The success of a fashion model begins with collaboration with a trustworthy modelling agency. Here are some of New Zealand's most successful modelling agencies you might want to explore.

3. Healthy Lifestyle and Body Management

Maintaining a healthy physique is essential for becoming a successful fashion model. Maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly to keep your body and mind in good health.

4. Social Media and Personal Branding

Social media serves as a powerful tool for a fashion model's personal branding. Utilize various platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok to share your work and collaborations with brands.

P.S: In our experience, industry connections play a significant role. Building relationships by attending various networking events in the industry can be a valuable way to expand your network.
