Have you ever floated through an ancient tropical rainforest before? 🌿

One of the coolest ways I’ve experienced the Daintree has to be river drifting with Backcountry Bliss. Floating beneath towering fan palms, exploring freshwater streams and letting the rainforest carry you downstream feels like a completely different way to see this part of Tropical North Queensland.

It’s a small group adventure with a mix of drifting, swimming and exploring, surrounded by one of the oldest tropical rainforests on Earth. Definitely one to add to your Port Douglas & Daintree itinerary.

Mount Maunganui Day 2 exploring with family 🌊🐑🌿

We checked into @ fivestarfocused with beautiful ocean views from our two-bedroom apartment, plus a pool, sauna and gym to enjoy between adventures. 😍

🏖️ Beaches: Spend the morning at Mount Maunganui Main Beach, explore Moturiki / Leisure Island or head over to Pilot Bay for beautiful harbour views.

🐑 Animal farm: Visit Marshalls Animal Park where the kids can feed and get up close with the animals. Stop at The Falls Cafe nearby while you’re there. ☕️

💦 Waterfalls & nature: Explore Ōmanawa Falls and its spectacular waterfall lookouts, then visit McLaren Falls Park for waterfalls, walking trails and lake views.

🛍️ Local markets: Check out The Little Big Markets for local makers, artisan finds, street food and family-friendly vibes. We visited their Tauranga Waterfront market along The Strand.

🍴 Where to eat: Explore the cafés and restaurants around Mount Maunganui, or head to The Strand in Tauranga for waterfront dining.

Beaches, animals, waterfalls, markets and good food… there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy around Mount Maunganui. 🇳🇿

🏡 Check into Five Star Focused and make it a proper coastal getaway. Think boutique holiday homes, luxury beachfront escapes, ocean views and stays with a 5-star feel, perfectly placed for exploring the Mount.

🥯 Start with a bagel from . Definitely one of my favourite food finds!

🌊 Spend the day at Main Beach with Mauao as your backdrop.

🏝️ Walk across to Moturiki / Leisure Island and explore the little island, rock pools and coastal views.

🌿 Wander up Hopukiore / Mount Drury for an easy elevated view over the coastline and Moturiki.

🌮 Keep an eye out for the food trucks around the Mount for an easy summer lunch or snack.

🍦 Grab an ice cream from Copenhagen Cones and wander along the beachfront.

🥾 Walk around Mauao or head to the summit when it reopens. Mauao is currently closed.
