It's Masters week!....Par 3 Contest

The Par 3 contest has been part of the Masters' tradition since 1960.

It's a relaxed day when the players can invite family or friends to caddie for them on Augusta National's nine-hole layout, immediately adjacent to the famous championship course.

While not at Augusta this year, Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox has shared the Par 3 tradition with his family the last two years. In 2023, Ryan's father Grant was on the bag, while last year, Ryan was able to share the occasion with his wife Anneke and daughters Isabel and Margot.

Sports Inc. tagged along for the occasion with Ryan and family.

SPORTS THAT BUILT THE NATION.

One of Sport Inc.’s favourite events to cover is the Ford Ranger NZ Rural Games.

This year was the event’s 10th anniversary and 40,000+ ascended on the Palmerston North Square for a fun weekend!

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT…..

…..is the name of Sports Inc.’s documentary celebrating the 20th anniversary of Michael Campbell’s epic 2005 US Open victory.

Filming continued this week at beautiful Millbrook Resort as we caught up with Kiwi ‘golfing royalty’ on the eve of the NZ Open.

Michael’s win is the stuff of sporting folklore, so it was special to get the thoughts of those so knowledgeable about the sport and Cambo’s heroics.

There was lots of emotion, a few tears, plenty of laughs, and several stories that haven’t been heard before!

We can’t wait to share the doco this July on Sky Sport.

THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND.

When many reflect on Bay of Plenty’s epic Ranfurly Shield win against Auckland in 2004, the name Wayne Ormond is the stuff of folklore.

The inspirational skipper led from the front throughout the 2004 season. He captured the sporting public’s imagination, so much so that he was finalist for the Halberg Sportsman of the year!

And, 20 years on, Wayne will be leading the way in our doco ‘Up for the Challenge-The Reunion’……coming soon to Sky Sport.

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!

The Sports Inc. crew enjoyed catching up in Tauranga with the victorious 2004 Ranfurly Shield winning Bay of Plenty team last weekend.

Twenty years ago The Steamers triumphed 33-28 over Auckland at Eden Park.

We took the opportunity to film the team’s reunion as they reminisced about one of the great days for the Bay!

‘SACRED’ ON THE PODIUM!

The Sports Inc. documentary, SACRED - A Rugby Story for the Ages, celebrates Sacred Heart College’s 2003 Auckland 1st XV Championship win, breaking a 58-year drought between titles.

SACRED played to a New Zealand audience on SKY Sport, and was subsequently picked up by World Rugby’s digital platform, RugbyPass TV.

The Sports Inc. production team, and Sacred Heart College, are both humbled,yet delighted by the news received overnight that SACRED was the most viewed documentary on RugbyPass TV last weekend.

UP FOR THE CHALLENGE.....THE 20th ANNIVERSARY OF BOP'S FAMOUS SHIELD VICTORY!

This week the Bunning's NPC kicks off, signaling the start of another season of provincial rugby.

It's also given the Sports Inc. team the chance to reflect on an epic game of footy from the first round of the NPC in 2004.

As well as competition points being on the line at Eden Park when the unheralded Bay of Plenty team travelled north to take on Auckland, it was the also the opportunity for the Bay to try and lift the Ranfurly Shield.... the most prized possession in New Zealand provincial rugby.

The proud Bay of Plenty province had never held the Shield in a history dating back to 1913. This was the BOP's 19th attempt, and with a team coached by Vern Cotter (assisted by Joe Schmidt), and captained by the fearless Wayne Ormond, the Bay fans held out hope that this could be the day.

The Sports Inc. crew were BOP fans themselves, so with the help of the BOPRU and SKY Sport, the production team of Kelsen, Hamish, and Malcolm, spent the week with the team hoping to document history.

Our documentary 'Up for the Challenge' captured the moments pre, during, and post game, and celebrated the history-making exploits of the 2004 Bay of Plenty team.....Ranfurly Shield winners!

'SACRED' SUNDAY ON SKY SPORT!

Great news. SACRED ,the Sports Inc. documentary celebrating Sacred Heart College 1st XV’s historic championship victory, will screen on SKY Sport from Sunday, June 30.

The doco received a great review from the New Zealand Herald when it premiered to the Sacred Heart community a few weeks ago.

It's an inspirational story told by the team.
