FMF IDC semi-finalists confirmed

The semi-finalists for the 86th FMF Inter-District Championship have been confirmed. Defending champions
Rewa FC, Ba FC, Labasa FC and Navua FC will battle for the two spots in the Super Premier Division final when the knockout stage gets underway on Saturday, October 10.

Rewa, who finished unbeaten at the top of Group A, will face Navua in the first semi-final at 3.30 NZ Time at the HFC Bank Stadium.

Traditional rivals Ba and Labasa will meet in the second semi-final at 6pm NZ Time in what is expected to be one of the biggest clashes of the tournament.
In the Premier Division, Seaqaqa will face Tavua in the first semi-final at 12 pm NZ Time at the HFC Bank Stadium.
The Fiji U17 National Team will take on Kiribati in the second semi-final at 12.30pm NZ time at Buckhurst Park.
The Senior Division will see Dreketi face Taveuni at 10am NZ Time at the HFC Bank Stadium, while Nadogo will meet Bua at the same time at Buckhurst Park.

New poll puts Opportunity Party below 5% threshold

The latest Taxpayers’ Union–Curia Poll puts the Opportunity Party at 4.8%, just 0.2 percentage points below the 5% threshold for entering Parliament without winning an electorate seat.

The poll shows:

• National — 28.5%
• Labour — 28.2%
• Green Party — 13.3%
• NZ First — 12.0%
• ACT — 9.2%
• Opportunity — 4.8%
• Te Pāti Māori — 1.4%

The poll projects 65 seats for the current coalition parties, compared with 55 for the opposition parties.

However, the pollster says the margin of error means there is a 42% chance that Opportunity’s actual support is above 5%. The poll surveyed 1,000 New Zealand adults between October 1 and 5, with a maximum margin of error of ±3.1%.

Opportunity Party leader Qiulae Wong is also campaigning for the Mt Albert electorate seat.

Antonela Roccuzzo’s Emotional Tribute to Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi signed off from international football in fairytale fashion, helping Argentina secure a memorable 3–0 victory over Benin in Buenos Aires.

In his farewell match on home soil, Messi delivered a stunning performance, scoring one goal and providing two assists as Argentina celebrated another special night with their legendary captain.

After the match, Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, shared an emotional message on Instagram, praising the love and respect her husband received from fans and his country.

She said Messi had truly earned that love through his personality, humility, commitment and unwavering dedication to Argentina and the national jersey.

Ba FC have booked their place in the FMF Inter-District Championship Super Premier Division semi-finals following a convincing 3-0 victory over Nadi FC at the HFC Bank Stadium.

John Orobulu scored a double, finding the net after just 26 seconds and again in the 23rd minute, before Etonia Dogalau added the third in the 43rd minute.
The victory sees Ba finish Group B on seven points, joining Navua FC in the semi-finals.
Labasa FC have booked their place in the 2026 FMF Inter-District Championship Super Premier Division semi-finals after beating Nasinu FC 2-1.
Nasinu broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Emanuel Etim found the back of the net with a powerful shot from inside the penalty box.
Labasa responded quickly and found the equaliser in the 38th minute through Eparama Moraica. Both teams went into the halftime break locked at one-all.
Labasa came out strongly in the second half and continued to apply pressure before Taniela Waqa scored the winning goal with a header. Navua FC have also secured their place in the semi-finals after playing to a nil-all draw against Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC.

This is a shocking news!
What’s happening in our beloved Fiji?

Three Police officers have been charged with the alleged murder of 24 year old Lami Police Constable Peniasi Racagi who was found dead along the Lami foreshore area on the 22nd of February this year. The decision on charges against the three Police officers was made by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions after a reassessment of the investigation file and forensic results from overseas.
The three police officers Simione Rokosemudu, Iowane Sukanaisoro and Ilisoni Waqa have been
jointly charged with murder.
It is alleged that the three police officers murdered Constable Peniaisi Racagi in February this year following an altercation.
The three police officers will appear in court tomorrow.

India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand was announced on Tuesday, with veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar making a surprise return to the national team after nearly four years.

The experienced fast bowler had been out of favour with selectors since 2022, but his impressive performances for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL have earned him another opportunity in India’s T20I setup.

Following the squad announcement, Bhuvneshwar’s wife, Nupur Nagar, celebrated his return on Instagram. She shared a screenshot of the team announcement along with a folded-hands emoji and the word “Gratidao.”

Nupur also shared a video from former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who congratulated Bhuvneshwar on his return to the national side.

The 36-year-old last played for India in the T20 World Cup semi-final against England at Adelaide Oval in November 2022. Since then, he has continued to make an impact in the IPL, taking 45 wickets across the last two editions for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and playing a key role in their title-winning campaigns.

His consistency with the new ball and extensive international experience have now earned him another chance with India.

Bhuvneshwar was recently named captain of India’s squad for the Hong Kong Sixes, but his selection for the T20I series means he will miss that tournament.

The Suva High Court will hear the bail application for Saimoni Rokotunidau next Thursday. He is facing charges of attempted murder following an alleged attack on a female police officer in Laqere, as well as unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Rokotunidau appeared before Suva High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere this morning.

His lawyer, Jerry Dinati, withdrew from the case, and Rokotunidau will now be represented by Legal Aid.

Justice Tuiqereqere directed Legal Aid to obtain the case disclosures from Dinati and file an affidavit by tomorrow.
