The Andersons were yet another loyal, repeat user of Euclid (and later Terex) equipment.

Sneak preview of our November 2025 classic machine profile- on the Cat 215 excavator.

Caption: Early production 96L series Caterpillar 215 with eight-roller track frame and a two-piece main boom. It also has the early style “V” front cab which only lasted a couple of years before Caterpillar updated it to the flat front type.

Caption: Terex publicity photo of an 82-40CA push loading another of the company’s products, an S-24 motor scraper, in fairly easy dirt on the Illinois Toll Road extension.
The 82-40 is equipped with a push block on the rear so it can be tandem pushed.
Someone in Terex’s publicity department has airbrushed safety helmets on the operator’s heads although there is not a ROPS in sight!!

With extensive modifications for working amongst the timber, this Terex 82-40DA is fitted with a Carco J-series logging winch.

Preview of our November 2025 classic machine profile- on the Cat 215 excavator.

Caption: This is the machine that the Caterpillar 215 was broadly based on, an Eder R815. These Deutz powered excavators were reasonably well regarded in their native Germany and were used as the starting point for the new Cat 215 that was only manufactured at Caterpillar's new production facility in Belgium.

Sharing pictures from our archives- this is from August 2024's issue- the profile on the Euclid 82-40 tractor

Caption: Although of poorer quality, this image is of the first Euclid branded 82-40 to be delivered in New Zealand in 1968.
Bought by Philp Construction, it is shown at work on the Kapuni Natural Gas Pipeline job with no less than John Philip himself at the controls.
This machine was an early US-manufactured 82-40BA model.
