A spiritual journey inspired by faith, devotion and the teachings of Shri Neeb Karori Baba is coming to the big screen.

✨ “Hanuman Ansh”, based on the book Divine Detour, will release in cinemas across New Zealand from 17 September 2026.

The film will screen at selected theatres in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Nelson, Kerikeri, Whangārei, Tauranga and Hastings giving audiences around the country the opportunity to experience this devotional story on the big screen.

🏏 TE ARA PUTANGA: CRICKET HELPING STRENGTHEN MĀORI CULTURAL CONNECTIONS

New Zealand Cricket has unveiled Te Ara Putanga the latest episode in its Whakapapa series, highlighting how cricket is helping young Māori across Aotearoa strengthen their connection with culture, identity, language and whakapapa.

The documentary follows the journeys of four well-known figures from New Zealand cricket — current WHITE FERN Eden Carson, Otago Volts player Jamal Todd and former internationals-turned-coaches Shane Bond and Maia Lewis.

At the heart of the story is the Māori Secondary Schools cricket programme, established in 2017 to give rangatahi opportunities to experience both cricket and Māori culture in a meaningful and supportive environment.

Since its introduction the programme has grown into an important pathway for Māori cricket helping young players develop on the field while also building a stronger sense of belonging and connection to their heritage.

During the episode, Carson and Todd return to the Māori Secondary Schools environment and reflect on the influence the programme had on their own development. They also see how the initiative continues to inspire and support a new generation of Māori cricketers.

Bond and Lewis bring further perspective to the documentary sharing experiences from different eras of New Zealand cricket and discussing the challenges, progress and opportunities that have shaped Māori participation in the game.

Together, their stories trace New Zealand Cricket’s Māori journey from its earlier foundations through to the present day, showing how sport can provide a powerful platform for culture, connection and belonging.

Released during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2026, Te Ara Putanga also looks ahead to the upcoming 2026 Tāne and Wāhine National Tournaments, which will take place in Tāmaki Makaurau this October.
