Today marks the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Māori Land March, a pivotal moment in Aotearoa's history led by the legendary Dame Whina Cooper. This hīkoi, which began in Te Hāpua and ended at Parliament in Wellington, united over 5,000 people in protest against the ongoing alienation of Māori land. The rallying cry, “Not one more acre”, still resonates powerfully today.
The Scottie Productions 2015 documentary "Hikoi: The Land March" marks 40 years since the land march and is now available to view on Youtube
