The amount of planning and logistics that went into this commercial was simply - quite insane.
Shooting across 25 live sections of motorway with cars that could be called out at any moment was intenso.
This spot has had over 4 million views and that suggests it captured something real and repeatable for the audience. It means we did our job right.

Here’s 1st Assistant Director Ian, lead talent Michael and Nathan, breaking down a camera move.

We are going to honk some trumpets for a second... Two bronze lions were awarded to Ruskin last night in Cannes for Waka Kotahi and FCB's 'through my eyes' a public service spot that details a day in the life of a Police officer charged with asking the public to slow down (again and again). Hats off to Casting Director Yvette Reid and master Editor Tim Mauger but also to the crew who worked so hard. We've never seen jousting rigs on a live motorway before. To the team at FCB and Waka Kotahi thanks for supporting Nathan to go further and deeper and strike the audience in a way that can affect real change. To our genuine police officer Michael Ravlic, we knew from your audition this was more than just acting - it was from the heart. We thank you for what you shared with us.

We would have loved to have been celebrating with our friends last week after receiving an Axis Grand Prix for Ruskin as a production company, and a directing gold for Nathan for BNZ ‘The Dancer’- shot right up in the middle of that last lockdown.

Covid is a bag of production knots and extra work, but this was achieved by a wonderful crew, dedicated cast, and an agency and client that kept at it and understood.

Hats off to the other directors awarded, particularly the Grand Axis Award winner for Global Women, and the commercials for NZ blood service and NZ fire service, these are all killer spots done cheap for the good of the community.

👏👏👏
