Trying out "dual record" 😅

SNACKS | ube coconut mochi

I see ube, I try ube 👀.... is this what "dual record" camera mode is for? 😅

My first time trying Boongs and I enjoyed it! It was nice and warm, not too sweet, and the mochi was good - perfect for a rainy Saturday. I couldn't taste the ube as much but liked that there were some coconut bits that added texture and some crunch. Would probably try their Dubai chocolate flavour next time!

DESSERT | Christmas desserts to make the celebrations with the family even sweeter 🥰 wherever you are in the world, I hope you get to enjoy this time of year with family and friends 🫶

🎄 Christmas Treats Gift box came with their Pavlova mochi-filled cheesecake trifle, 2 x Christmas Tree Matcha Strawberry mochi filled Tart, and 3 x Gingerbread Sandwhich with Brown Sugar Creameux filling - so much deliciousness in 1 box!! Always love the different textures in their products.
🍓🫐 homemade Summer Berry Trifle using ingredients from our local (sponge cake, berries, custard, cream and strawberry jam roll)
🍰 Strawberry spiral by - a super fun take on cake! The spiral created so many layers and the nutty base was amazing. So many different flavour profiles and textures, and the best thing was it wasn't too sweet!!
🥐 Choux pastries by - I absolutely had to try these too! I enjoyed the mochi filling, as per usual and the flavour combos were great! The creme brulee one was gorgeous, and the matcha with jasmine one was perfect!
🌲 Christmas fatcarons set and wreath by - if you don't know what fatcarons are, they're basically fat macarons. Think your usual macaron but quadruple the filling 😅 I loved the Pistachio knafeh flavour, and the mango cheesecake 🤤

DINNER | 8-course degustation

For my partner's birthday dinner, we went to The Bunker Restaurant. It's our first time here, and we LOVED it! The service was lovely, music was great, honestly the whole night was such a good vibe. I'd recommend them especially if you love the speakeasy vibe!

In terms of food - every dish was perfectly seasoned, no need for salt/pepper at the table, and not once did I think "this needs some chilli powder" 😅 I opted for the seafood options while my partner opted for the game meat. I'll post the meat options separately.

Anyway, here's my dinner pov:
1 - Table setting and ambiance. They dimmed the light as the night went on and it made for such a romantic feel.
2 - The Pink Diamond cocktail - all I remember is I saw "lychee" in the description. This was delicious! Fruity, but not too sweet, a little sour and perfectly tangy.
3 - Amuse-bouche - best appetizer I've had at a restaurant! These little morsels of flavour definitely whet our appetites and had us looking forward to the rest of our 8 courses. The chickpea puffs filled with Venison tartare and some cheesy goodness (I think), we're like flavour bombs. We ate it in one bite and oh 👏my 👏 goodness.. I died and went to heaven. 🤤🤤🤤🤤
4 - Kingfish - fresh fish and light & citrusy complements like the marinated tomatoes, orange and yuzu dressing. Awesome starter!
5 - Paua - paua tortellini. I've not acquired the taste of paua just yet. It seems whenever I try it, it's a bit rubbery (is it meant to be like that?) This one wasn't as bad as they diced it in the tortellini. The pasta dough itself was great!
6 - sorbet to cleanse the palate ahead of our main dish
7 - Blue cod with prawn butter - whoever invented prawn butter is my hero. That was so good, I wanted to lick my plate. The blue cod was cooked perfectly - it was tender and flavourful, and so good with the prawn butter and the cute little mussel fritter. I recommend this if you like fish!
8 - Pre-dessert eclairs filled with strawberry mascarpone
9 - Blueberrh & earl grey tart with black sesame
10 - Tickled Pink - complimentary dessert wine
11 - Cheese board with housemade lavish bread
