In mid-2011, a milestone Māori media reunion marking more than 25 years of bicultural journalism training in this country was hosted by Waiariki Institute of Technology in Rotorua with support from Te Puni Kōkiri. As well as providing an opportunity for Waiariki to renew links and strengthen relationships with Māori media organisations and individuals, the event provided a rare opportunity for Māo

ri media workers in radio, television, print and communications to reconnect with each other. A broader membership base will include Māori and non-Māori journalists, Māori working in the production of news and current affairs across all mediums, Māori public relations and communications practitioners, Māori journalism students and tutors, and interested parties whose work involves Māori issues, media and communications.
