After eight years DJing across Dubai and London, Venetia is back in New Zealand with a signature sound built on groove, sparkle, and feel-good flow. She grew up on the classics and still carries that love for disco and funk into every set she plays.

Her energy is infectious, her transitions seamless, and her sets are a journey through old-school flavour and fresh-house heat.

Meet this Zapper: Peter Urlich

Icon. Innovator. Pioneer of the New Zealand DJ scene.

Peter Urlich has been shaping the sound of modern Aotearoa nightlife since 1980, when he opened A Certain Bar on Wellesley Street and introduced a new wave of danceable electronic music to a hungry crowd. Fresh from London with a crate of 7-inch singles, he created a space where the energy was high, the tracks were fresh, and the scene began to shift.

That spark led to a series of legendary nightclubs with partner Mark Phillips, igniting a movement and setting the foundation for the DJ culture we know today. Peter’s journey continued to radio, where a fateful partnership with Bevan Keys created NICE’N’URLICH. Twenty-seven years on, their parties are still some of the most loved in the country.

Peter fronted George FM Breakfast for six years, playing funky house at sunrise to an audience that couldn’t get enough. His connection to music, magnetic presence, and deep understanding of how to read a room have made him a standout for more than four decades.

One of only two Kiwis to ever place runner-up in the Red Bull Thr3style competition, invited into the Defected Records Unsung Heroes programme, and a veteran of legendary stages across Europe and Australasia, Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, The Big Chill, and iconic London residencies included.

Now he’s back in Aotearoa with sets that are sharp, dynamic, and dialled for impact. Using advanced scratch technique and the latest ‘Serato Stems’ tech, he can flip, cut, remix, and rebuild any track on the fly. The result? Dancefloors that move, crowds that react, and moments that hit hard.
