Crimson Education – a unicorn company valued at $1 billion – has been in expansion mode, putting it on the path to cross $1 billion in sales since inception.

“Today, Crimson is the largest provider of college admissions guidance for American kids getting into US colleges, which I think is pretty funny because they trust, of course, Kiwis to get into their own schools,” co-founder and chief executive Jamie Beaton told Markets with Madison in New York, where he lives and runs the global company.

So what should people - and businesses in particular - be doing before they dispose of their technology? Greenbox speaks with RNZ, which specialises in hardware recycling and data security.

Around 100 men in Gisborne-Tairawhiti have benefited so far from joint funding that supports an advanced approach to prostate cancer diagnosis.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in New Zealand, and there are significant disparities in terms of diagnosis, treatment and outcomes.

The funding pathway has so far enabled more accurate scans of the 100 men in this district and is part of a joint funding effort that is helping to pave the way to potentially save thousands of lives.

The funding involves a contribution of $50,000 and a further $50,000 pledge from the Perpetual Guardian Foundation’s Medical Research Fund, underpinned by two legacies, that supports the diagnostic approach to prostate cancer diagnosis.

Around 100 Gisborne men helped by prostate cancer diagnosis work at the Mātai Institute.

When Jimmynett Penea Kaufisi left school at 13, it was beyond his wildest dreams to think he’d one day achieve a Bachelor of Architectural Studies.

Before he lined up with fellow Unitec graduands on Tuesday morning to parade down Auckland’s Queen St, it still hadn’t completely sunk in.

So Kaufisi enrolled at Unitec in 2020 and persisted, despite many challenges, including a heart attack in 2024 and navigating his studies during the Covid pandemic without a laptop or internet.

“All I can say is, this is the happiest thing I’ve done for myself and my family.”

When Jimmy Kaufisi left school at 13, it was beyond his wildest dreams to think he’d one day achieve a Bachelor of Architectural Studies.
