It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of New Zealand film producer John Barnett.
John played a significant role in the New Zealand film and television industry, but it's not commonly known that John was the silent mentor and partner of Attitude, and generously supported the development of the digital platform
AttitudeLive.
Built in 2013, the AttitudeLive platform was well ahead of its time. It allowed AttitudeLive to live stream from the Winter Paralympics in Sochi... to audiences in NZ.
John's support and mentorship has ensured that more than 700 programmes, produced by Attitude about disabled people, have been made available to view for free. Those programmes have had more than 70 million views worldwide.
We thank John for his mentorship and contributions to Attitude and the disabled community.

He was a producer or executive producer on four of the country's 10 top grossing films.
