Award-winning theatre experience UPU is coming home… and making history as the first-ever Tagata Moana work to take the stage at the brand-new Waikato Regional Theatre in Kirikiriroa Hamilton with

Fasitua Mosa as director and Grace Iwash*ta-Taylor as Curator

UPU brings together the voices of our ocean of islands… from the giants of Pacific poetry like Albert Wendt, Selina Tusitala Marsh, Hone Tuwhare, Tusiata Avia, Ben Brown… to powerful emerging voices telling stories of identity, history, humour, and resilience.

These poems are already powerful on the page — but on stage, brought to life by an incredible cast including Miriama McDowell, Jarod Rāwiri, Nicola Kāwana and more — with stunning lighting, projections, and an original soundscape — it’s pure magic.

UPU is on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February at the Waikato Regional Theatre.

Tickets go on sale 12pm this Friday, December 12 — and they will move fast.

For tickets and full details, head to waikatoregionaltheatre.co.nz.
