My teeth have been my biggest insecurity my whole life.

I’ve already had hate about them online. Which is wild. But also not surprising.

Today I sat in the dentist chair and got told it would cost $6,000 to fix my tooth. I said no without even blinking.

Not because I don’t care - but because in my head I was already doing the maths. Fridge. Dishwasher. Kids’ braces.

So I told them to just pull it.

Here’s the thing though - I have always wanted my teeth fixed. Always. But my priority is to give my kids what I never had. So braces and beautiful teeth? That’s what they’re getting.

I am just not what is important in this family.

Thankfully they managed to save my tooth today - because I was terrified of adding a gap to the list of things I already hate about my smile.

But that moment in the chair where I did the maths and took myself out of the equation without a second thought?

Every mum knows exactly what I mean.

Crave Athletics (New Zealand) are bringing it to the mat this year - watch out.

Oh and we have a parent team now which is either the best or worst idea anyone has ever had 😂

Obviously I’m poor now. Comp bills hit different when you’re also trying to pretend you’re a functioning adult.

The TOI wearable art segment SHOWQUEST just about broke my brain

These are INTERMEDIATE kids making full wearable art garments from scratch and the creativity on display was unreal

Huge congrats to every student who designed and made a piece - genuinely next level stuff

I was invited along and honestly left feeling like I need to pick up a hobby

So basically I lure minors into a confined space every day

I get paid to hold kids against their will for six hours while their parents have no idea what’s actually happening in there.

I decide what information they’re allowed to have. I control when they eat, when they move, when they’re allowed to speak.

I’ve got a room full of them and not one of them chose to be there.

I assess them, rank them, and file detailed reports on their behaviour that follow them for years.

And the government? They’re funding the whole operation.

Nobody talks about what teachers actually do all day 👀
