Just a friendly reminder for anyone that needs to hear this...

The staff of the NZ postal services do an amazing and hugely important job and the run up to Christmas must be particularly challenging, especially for customer-facing staff in the NZ Post shops.

I was in NZ Post shop in Auckland City last week and witnessed a customer having a complete meltdown, shouting loudly and berating the staff in front of a line of waiting customers for some minor inconvenience - It was a hard thing to see 😔

When I got to the front of the queue, the lady that served me was very professional and helpful but was still visibly shaken from the ordeal but trying to push through it. At the end of my transaction I said "Don't worry about that mean old bag, all of the rest of us know that you guys are all doing an amazing job". She looked as though she was having to fight back tears as I left and she had to serve the next person and presumably many more after that.

Please remember to be kind to service staff when you out there, particularly in the run up to Christmas - These people do hard and highly exacting work for hours on end and have to deal with some very difficult and rude people - They do a phenomenal job and perhaps the world would be just that little bit better if we remembered this and acted accordingly.

This is Ijaz the Manager of my local NZ Post shop - Ijaz and his Team at Glenfield NZ Post do the most amazing job, provide a super helpful service (even when you don't have all your passport application documents in order 🤣) with great cheers and a smile!
