12 months ago today I was rolling the rear suspension out of the 1979 Kenworth SAR and today it’s back to a rolling chassis. There’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel and I’m super pumped to keep pushing towards getting this thing finished. There’s a lot of sanding, sandblasting, painting, fixing, drilling and hard work between these two photos but it will be all worth it for the finished product👌🏻🔥

Took the old W model out on an 8 hour round trip to pickup this little float and it didn’t miss a beat with the Detroit 6V92 screaming away the whole time💪🏻

Off to a great start in NZ! Checked out some awesome old gear so far. It’s great to see some of this gear saved from being scraped and put on display and a great display at that! has done an amazing job at showcasing everything and it’s worth the trip just to see this display!

Hey Guys this year the W model and I will be participating in the Geelong Convoy for kids 2025 to fundraise money for Camp Quality.

On the 23rd of February I will take part in a convoy with hundreds of other trucks through Geelong on a 40km circuit finishing up at Buckley park for a Free family fun festival, for anyone who is local it’s a great day out for the whole family!

For 40 years, Camp Quality has improved the quality of life for kids impacted by cancer, and their families.

Day 4 on the old SAR was abit of a difficult one. We dragged it back in the shed after its hot wash and got 2 chassis stands under the rear. Next task was to tackle all of the bolts in the turn table rails, rear cross members and 6 rod suspension.
When I say it was difficult I mean every single bolt put up a massive fight every bolt was seized seized solid, and with not enough room for an impact gun on the inside of the frame every nut needed to be cracked by hand and then put the 1” impact gun on the bolt head on the outside of the frame and hope that the head didn’t snap off, as going through 3 layers of steel and 1 aluminium had created quiet the recipe for some of natures loctite…. Corrosion!
Some bolts spun loose and others snapped the heads off, the only option with those ones was a breaker bar on the nut and an air hammer on the shank of the bolt to slowly wind them inward.
After battling most of the day with stubborn bolts we got them all out and it was as simple as lifting the chassis up and rolling the rear end out from underneath.
At this point there isn’t a great deal of the truck left! 1 more day will Definitly see a rail out and get organised to start drilling👌🏻
