Cody Diekhoff is the person behind the musical moniker Chicago Farmer; he has been performing under that name both as a solo act and as a band for over 2 decades. Chicago Farmer’s recently released album, “Homeaid” is an excellent collection of songs; Cody and his band the Field Notes deliver ...

We sat down with Canadian musician Bob Sumner at AmericanaFest in Nashville; we discuss his recent record Some Place to Rest Easy , which has become one of my favorite releases of 2024. The musical vibes are lovely, echoing the sounds of my favorite Randy Travis records of the 90’s, but Bob also

All of the smart people who know things kept telling me to try to get Jeffrey Martin on the podcast. These people turned out to be quite correct.
Jeffrey was kind enough to take time out of his busy touring schedule to sit down at Tell You What! studios for an engaging conversation. We discussed his incredibly great record, "Thank God We Left the Garden"; I was fascinated by Jeffrey's explanation of his creative process, as he tries to uncover the lyrics that are attached to particular melodies.
Jeffrey and I also discuss our upcoming podcast spinoff series where we will break down the classic song, "That's the Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"-stay tuned!

Abe shares his fascinating personal story with honesty, self awareness, amazing insight and humor.

Traveled half way round the world to New Zealand and who do I bump into but Dani and Nick, the fabulous musicians from who talked with me on Episode 26. The reach of the Tell You What! enterprise is far flung.

Nick gave us a great afternoon tour of his stunning home territory around Christchurch. Any of you who happen to be in the south island, they have a few shows left on their NZ tour. South for Winter is a band that as it turns out are true to their name.

Look out for their upcoming album release, will be a good one.

W***y Tea Taylor songwriter, musician, storyteller deluxe took over Tell You What! Studios for a couple days recently. We had a fun, wide ranging, slightly meandering (in the best way), highly entertaining and insightful discussion.

W***y also performed a show here at the studio complex, and he completely won over a house full of new fans and new best friends.

Check out this episode, it has already taken its place as one of my all time favs. And spend some time with W***y’s latest amazing record, The Great Western Hangover.

Humbird music is beautiful and surprising, experimental Americana-ish takes on traditional storytelling. I talked with Siri Undlin, the musician behind the Humbird moniker, at the most excellent Mile of Music Festival in Appleton WI.

Hear about working with bad ideas, how it sucks to pretend, and is warm music easier to digest? Also what does the mysterious cat have to say about any of this?

Tune in to find out, and hear one of my favorite pod conversations.

While you wait anxiously for Chris Pierce upcoming album release, check out this excellent conversation. Chris was a warm, engaging, and thoughtful guest. We covered but a small slice of his amazing variety of creative endeavors. Thanks Chris!

Do you know what “shoegaze-icana” music sounds like? Don’t even worry about it just listen to the fantastic album from Why Bonnie, “90 in November”.

Blair Howerton talks about writing these songs while quarantined in her nyc apartment, songs about memories and looking back (or not). Also covered: Blair’s drum ambitions, biblical stories, and choosing your creative parent’s artwork as your album cover (interesting concept…)
