It has been some time! Just know, if you haven’t seen me active that I have been showing up on another platform or two.
I have my links in my bio but my most frequented is my instagram. Come follow me over yonder!
Update: I moved towns! Yup I packed up my whare and moved for more opportunities. My business was the catalyst & was the door that led me to many more things.
I still have my water business & my digital business too! I graduated from my digital technology course with specialisation in Functional Consulting! Amidst all of that, I had a wicked interview for some really beautiful mahi and I said yes to stepping back into the workforce. I have loved it every day since I started!
My son turned 4! It was a huge milestone that I was so grateful to be able to celebrate, it’s been a glorious year.
My biz moved into part time as I just had not had the capacity to give much more without my home life being impacted, but I have been able to build it up over time and have enjoyed it as much.
I often reflect on the huge differences between biz full time vs mahi & honestly after experiencing both I have to say that they have their fair pros and cons. I loved being on my own time but the challenge of putea coming in steady enough to service my household defs was one of my least favourite parts. Working is so straightforward, no additional brain cells after 4pm you know what I mean! I would often work in my biz countless hours into the nights, I loved creating and working on peoples passion projects but it was hard to separate biz from home when you do it all in the same place.
Do I miss being able to wake up whenever I want, absolutely! But I love the team work culture and community, being with others and having wānanga and just being with others.
I have loved delving into my biz stuff in my spare time, helping people in a less intense contracted way and just sharing what I want when I want without fear of consequence of not posting consecutively.
So my opinion on both, is…
You got to have and experience both. I love looking at them as seasons, both bring a necessary spark to life, both teach you so much and both build on your career and income capabilities.
I wouldn’t choose one over the other. My goal would be to be part time of both and just continue to build a brand that is reflective of who I am and the journey I have been on for the last 1.5 years. Knowing that people spend lifetimes building business, I like the idea of doing what feels best based on the season you are in.
But, I say this to everyone I talk to, you must go into business if you have ever had an idea or contemplated it, you will just never know the feeling until you do it. And you will never regret it, because it is something that impacts the human experience.
Upskilling is a hell yes, business is a hell yes, working is a yes 😆🤣 but all in all it’s all a YES
That’s my update
Stay safe
