It getting to the last week of school and the kids are quietly getting excited, looking eagerly forward to having a fun Summer holiday. Our middle child Denver had a great day today. He was awarded the most improved junior male for his Taekwondo club and got a Mr Clever book for always coming up with the right answers. Kids do amaze you with their abilities at the most unexpected moment. He surprised himself too. Proud of my little kids. 😊

Cooking for my family has gradually become a therapeutic activity for me. It allows me to hone my time management capabilities. I am always working out the different timings for each dish, the next stage of the cooking process, and determining which method is most efficient. It is not surprising on days when I almost spend my time in the kitchen experimenting with a new dish or tweaking an existing dish. It is always a great feeling when the food is ready, the table is set and everybody comes together to discuss on the day's events. Food in my home always encourages talk and positivity. 🥰

This evening at the hospital, I had a request to go visit a patient in the medical assessment ward. When I got there, the patient had been transferred to another ward but the staff on the floor had a go at pushing the electric wheelchair which unfortunately caused the brakes to go into an error state. I managed to ease their worries by re-engaging the motor to move the wheelchair again. When I managed to meet this patient and got to understand his predicament, he suddenly burst into tears explaining he owed his wife too much as he had become disabled and a burden to her. At that moment, I lost my calmness and allowed my feelings to overcome the situation. I berated him for having silly thoughts and brought him back to his senses. I managed to calm him down and explained how fortunate he was to have such a loving partner who was willing to take care of him through and through. I guess that is when I recited the vow at the wedding alter "to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death." became so true and emotional to him. He held my hand and thanked me for my encouragement for him to carry on living a life of purpose. After helping him with his needs, I left my work behind with a smile that I made another friend in unexpected circumstances. 😊

Proud of my little daughter for winning her first trophy for outstanding effort in martial arts. When we adjust our attention and reward effort, we promote our children's desire to do things because they matter, because they like it, because they find it interesting, and because they are part of something important. Rewarding effort simultaneously rewards autonomy, mastery, and purpose, three major elements of success and motivation. It also keeps children from shutting down in the face of tough challenges, and keeps them pushing themselves to try and try again!😄

I always enjoy seeing my kids experience different things in life. Today, I managed to take my boy and his neighbour on a 4.5 ton truck ride which i borrowed from my buddy to do some decluttering in the house before as a early preparation for the new year. This is also my first time driving such a huge truck which was quite a challenge especially reversing it! My little daughter on the other hand was having a great time trying out pony riding and having a field of a day trying her hands on the monkey bar attempting to beat her record. Feeling very fortunate to spend precious time with them. 😊

I love seeing my little daughter gain confidence through the friendship she forms with other children around the neighbourhood. Through her daily conversation with me, I could tell she is quickly growing up, becoming self conscious and knowing what she wants in life. It reminds me as a parent to always capture as much memories with them as we never know when they will leave their nest to see the world that awaits them. 😊

Today, the kids got to experience a one of a kind experience racing. Invented proudly in New Zealand, Blokarts are compact wind powered land sailing craft, thrilling to pilot, fast and fun yet easy to learn and very safe, like a go-kart with a sail. Harnessing nature and the famous Canterbury Winds the kids got to race with no motor, just natures own power! Really happy I got to see my middle child have the courage to do something fun which he often does not participate. 😁

Amazing night to be able to watch my eldest boy perform on stage in front of a packed hall. I could feel his nerves going on stage but once the lights hit on him, the nerves just disappear and he sang like a natural choir through the night. Really proud of his performance. 🥰
