The LED wall at Kōawa Studios—the University of Canterbury’s Screen Arts Facility—is the centrepiece of its Virtual Production (VP) Stage, positioning it as a leading hub for creative technology in New Zealand’s South Island. The Kōawa LED wall is a commercial-grade 14m x 4m curved display with a fine 1.9mm pixel pitch. It uses VuePix Infiled DB Virtual Studio Series panels and is driven by Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED video processors, establishing it as an industry-standard setup for cinematic virtual production. This facility allows for live-action capture against real-time, high-quality 3D environments, directly preparing students for professional roles in the screen sector.
