Tonight it's my pleasure to welcome back one of the nice guys of Speedway Lindsay Gilbert .

Lindsay has been around speedway for a few years now and has previously raced in the modified and sprintcar classes

This season he will be running the ex Jamie Fox J & J Chassis and as always fans can be assured that Lindsay will be giving his all on the track.

We hope you enjoy being part of the Modified class mate and we look forward to seeing you back in the track.

Good Evening all, Yes it's Friday 😀😊 and time to put your feet up and enjoy some family time.

How many of you have been wondering what has happened to the current 1 NZ racecar after Jacob Mitchell announced he was stepping away from the Modified class.

Let me introduce you to Luke Regan.

Luke has followed speedway since he was a kid. His only racing experience is in ministocks which was many years ago now. He has crewed for a few stockcars and modifieds (Steve Sinclair and Luke Keegan) which has given him the opportunity to have a go in a few races in a stockcar and have a play on an empty track in a modified.

After sponsoring many different cars in different grades over the years with his business Aceomatic Transmission Services, Luke thought it was time to get his own car and get back to driving.

Plans for this season is to ease into learning how to handle this beast. He is only planning on participating in regular club nights, not any big Modified meetings. He will still be crewing for Luke Keegan on the nights he is not racing.

There will be no big changes to the car apart from a new number and sponsors.

Next year Luke plans to take what he has learned from this upcoming season and attend more meetings and see how things go.

A huge thank you to Gemma for sending me this information and on behalf of South Island Modifieds I like to welcome Luke and Gemma to the Modified family.

Cheers Mikey

Hi Folks, I hope your enjoying the posts about our new modified family members.

Tonight Its my pleasure to introduce Kieran Harris and welcome him to the Modified class.

Kieran did me a huge favor by sending me a bit of info about himself, to be honest I actually knew very little about this very talented speedway competitor

Kieran Harris

I have raced Modified sprints for 17 odd years,
Had some good results over that time and wrecked some gear too,

I work on cars all year round at my shop KH Fabrication Ltd
I’ve always liked the modified class and am excited to get out there and see what they are all about.

My car is the ex Jason Scott tripleX

Thanks to Steve Sinclair, Andrew Naven for all their help and advice.

This guy needs no introduction, but for those of you who are new to Speedway and the Modified class This competitor is one of the legends of the sport we love.

Born to follow in his father Greg Keegan's footsteps Luke has a long list of achievements including being a 3x NZ Modified Champion to go along with 4 NZ Modified GP titles,2x South Island Modified titles and few club & regional titles just to name a few, I sure that Ive missed some,A true legend in his own right .

Apart from Modifieds, Luke has also raced in the Super Saloon & Sprintcar grade.

On behalf of all of us at South Island Modifieds its a pleasure to welcome back to our Modified family a true gentleman 34c Luke Keegan & the team from lsk motorsport.

Today I would like to introduce one of our new members to the Modified family.

Many of you will know this young lady from her time in the Ministock grade with sister Emily before making the move up to Stockcars along with her father Jason and partner Tyler.

From what I gather it has always been her dream to race modifieds and now that she has purchased the ex 49 c car off Kevin Ban she can now realize that dream.

Amber Brooks it's our pleasure to welcome you into the Modified family and we hope you enjoy
racing with a great bunch of competitors.

Tonight I would like to introduce you all to Zane Cooper .

Zane has been around speedway for awhile now having grown up around Modifieds which members of his family raced.
Zane spent a few years working as part of a sprintcar team before purchasing a six shooter which he raced for 6 years and he also raced a sprintcar on & off for 5 years before purchasing a Gordge Modified.

About Zane's car

Chassis: New generation Harris with Raceworks modifications.
Engine: Chev 406

In Zane's words I haven’t really had huge success, but have had a bunch of fun in the classes I have run.

Due to work and family commitments this season will be limited but we’re really looking forward to the chances we do get to be at Woodford Glen as part of the Modified family.

South Island Modifieds

Welcome to the South Island Modified’s Group,

A history of past and present.

In 1978, Woodfordglen Speedway renamed them super stocks and in 1979 they were one again renamed Sportsman, Ross Baker drafted the first lot of rules. They have had a couple of name changes. Starting with Modified Sportsman which is a direct shoot off from saloons up to the present day. They are now one of the fastest classes of speedway around and called Modifieds . The rules were about the same as stock rods which were a popular class of racing in the USA, Apart from no contact and it had to be two door car body, no side bars, and four wheel compulsory brakes. The class was originally started up to provide cheap fast cars without a lot of maintenance. Competitors, all South Island legends in their own right, Jeff & Allan Kirk, Joe Annan, Mike Allan, Gordon Foster, Pete Muckle, Greg & Luke Keegan, Stephan Crowe, Trevor Wishart Robbie Brown, Ross Troughton John Lovelady, and Tony & Cliff Frost are names many South Island fans will remember.
