Leading by Example: Ruby Trewinnard - Outstanding Service and Leadership
Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury are delighted to announce our successful awardee for 2025-2026 – Ruby Trewinnard.
Ruby is a Year 13 student at Rangi Ruru Girls” School, who will attend Otago University in 2026 to study Microbiology and Biochemistry and is interested in vaccine development.
Ruby while living at the University halls is committed to participating in Service oriented clubs and giving her time as a volunteer.
During her time at High school, Ruby has held the role of Head of Service and lead her group in activities supporting Canterbury Refugees, Aviva Women Refuge, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre and Christchurch City Mission via their Harvest Festival food drive.
Her major leadership roles were in 40 Hour Challenge raising $13000 for children in the Solomon Islands and Relay of Life for the Cancer Society. She earned a Outstanding service award for her contribution as Head of Chapel leading 35+ students to run service programs.
Ruby’s out of school volunteerism including baking for Good Bi***es Baking, Orana Wildlife Park, Imagination Station, NICU ward at Christchurch Hospital, Eco-Action tree planting and Special Children’s Christmas party.
Ruby has also taken part in Model United Nations and she has a wide appreciation of global issues and works closely with Canterbury Refugees and understands their issues.
Ruby shows a dedication to education and equality for all people, volunteerism and commitment to creating a fair and equal world.
Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury are delighted to grant Ruby with our club Young Women in Leadership award and nominate and recommend her to D16 Zonta New Zealand and Zonta International.
Ruby is a delightfully confident and compassionate young women that we can all be proud of.
