Two summers of trials found lambs grazing forage crop could go well beyond 70 days without needing a drench.

The three-year research collaboration between PGG Wrightson Ltd and PGG Wrightson Seeds tested whether forage crops could stretch the gap between drenches.

Forage crops likely break the parasite life cycle, and growing lambs faster to a heavier weight adds extra protection. Brassica crops with grass excluded gave the strongest results, reaching 70 days after the effective drench, then 159 days this past summer.
