You realise with cyclone Gabriel thousands of people lost their homes and even more people lost their power. Emergency services were called to every place that had been affected, or had emergency warnings, for this cyclone, whether they could access the regions by foot, land, or water. That's the reality, that's what we've all been told.
Now, picture this.
Thousands of people crowding their evacuation centre's around Northland, power's out, no cell phone reception, no news of what's happening. The military, essential delivery, and volunteer services are making their way to these people as fast as they can, but halfway there their vehicles runs flat. Because their engines are electric, they need to find a charging station. Because there is a cyclone and no power available they are unable to continue to the people in need.
Moral of the story, our damn cell phones failed us in the cyclone.
If we all had electric vehicles there would be more casualties, more deaths, more people left starving and scared.
It's facts.
