Another milestone reached,.
On this day in 1997 Big River FM launched into the homes and workplaces of Northern Wairoa. At that stage we had in excess of 50 volunteers, not all at the same time I must admit but the place was always crowded. It was a smoke free environment and the smokers were obliged to climb out of the studio window for a quick fag and you always knew when the current DJ wa at his smoke break when you heard "Stairway to Heaven" this was the longest track on our database at that time some 7 minutes long so with an add break it was time enough to get through a whole ciggy. Times have changed and technology has improved in leaps and bounds, we now broadcast 24 hours a day and we live stream so you can now take Big River with you were ever you go.
