Today was so much fun ☀️ Thanks to Emerson's Brewery and all the lovely staff and customers for all the positive comments 🤩 There was a gorgeous group of young men sitting outside for a few hours and as they were leaving, they said the music was impressive and they had a blast in the sunshine all afternoon 💥 And then a cute English couple made a point to thank me for the music and said it took them back to their Northern Soul days! I mean c'mon, there is no greater compliment for this girl from Lancashire 🌹 Happy Days 🍻

I also learned that I can't DJ in dangly earrings 😆

I'm away at the WEE Treat next weekend but I met the cool guy that covers for me last week and we are cut from the same cloth so all good!

And I've been told that Sunday Roast sessions will continue into summer with a slight menu change so I'm excited to keep playing on Sunday Funday. I've noticed that I play more chilled vibes on the colder days and more house music on the sunny days 🎧 Absolute bonus keeping this ginger girl inside playing records and away from the risk of sunburn 💯

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Dunedin Marathon today 👏🏼 It was great seeing people enjoy a post run pint and kai 🍻

I've had a few vinyl wins recently 😍 Yesterday I found a record that has been hiding for about a decade. I don't know why an old soul album would be buried in a liquid dnb EP, but the joy of finding it was intense 🕺🏼 Humble apologies to the guy who I thought had nicked it 😬🙄😅 I am absolutely fizzing to play Barbara Acklin and Erma Franklin in the Taproom this weekend 🎧

I've started cataloging my collection on the Discogs website and have sold a few albums on the FB marketplace. Then I found a cool 60s record for a dollar in an op shop and disco ball for $10 🪩✨💥

Hopefully see some of you at Emerson's Brewery on Sunday this weekend. Thanks to all my friends and whānau for their ongoing support and coming down for a Sunday pint and chill 😎 It's Father's Day this week so probably best to book 🍻💙🎶

Got a bit of a shock walking into the Taproom today, coz I didn't know the rugby was on!!! Emerson's Brewery was buzzing and the staff are amazing 🤩 loving playing vinyl on Sunday afternoons 🥰

Looking forward to being back in the Taproom on Sunday. Expect soul, funk, reggae, hip hop and a few surprises. I've got some exciting new vinyl to play 😁

🎧 Record of the Week
Maribou State 🎶 Portraits

I've loved these since seeing them live at Electric Avenue a few years ago and am buzzing to finally have it in my collection. My favorite track is Midas... warm, soulful electronica with a slow-burning groove, dreamy vocals and that golden-hour feeling. Perfect for the Sunday Roast Sessions 🍻

On Wednesday I was lucky to visit this amazing vinyl bar in Auckland and I can't wait to go again. I learned that listening bars originated in Japan many many moons ago and the rest of the world is slowly catching on....
