Dunedin man Mark Baxter went about three years without a diagnosis before being found to have a rare blood cancer has launched a petition urging Parliament to restore permanent, in-person public dermatology services in Dunedin and the Southern region.

Mark, who is bedridden in the oncology ward at Dunedin Hospital, shared his story with Jeff on the OARsome Morning Show today.

Mga Kuwento sa Pagitan (Stories In Between) 🇵🇭 is an exhibition exploring migration, identity, and belonging through Filipino New Zealand designer and Otago Polytechnic School of Design educator Denise Narciso’s own experience of moving from the Philippines to New Zealand.

📍 The exhibition is on NOW until Saturday 17 October at 7 PM at 125 George Street, Ōtepoti Dunedin.

There will also be Tambayan sessions hosted by the Otago Filipino Students' Association throughout the week! There will be karaoke 🎶🎤

Funding support from Government was confirmed last week for the establishment of an all-in-one Youth Hub in Ōtepoti Dunedin for young people aged 10-25 years, to freely access help with:
• health issues,
• accessing temporary accommodation
• employment opportunities
• training and further education
• assistance to gain income support
• meeting new people
• enjoying arts and recreation activities

It will bring together a range of support organisations, both government and non-government, to work closely together in the same location to allow ease of access for young people in Otepoti. Some of these young people will be taking advantage of an 8 bed accommodation provision, where they could stay for up to 3 – 18 months, at an affordable rent, whilst finding employment and more long term housing.
