We caught up with renowned Māori photographer Erica Sinclair to kōrero about the importance of obtaining whānau consent before using their image. We also spoke with leading Māori lawyer Annette Sykes, as we follow up on the exclusive story we brought you yesterday, where Hobson’s Pledge used a photo of a kuia without her consent in their campaign urging people to vote against Māori wards. In response to a $500,000 funding cut, Waikato Women’s Refuge – Te Whakaruruhau staff and supporters are each walking 100,000 steps this July to raise money for their services. So far, more than 3 million steps and $8,000 have been raised to support over 6,000 women, children and families.
