🟠Te Tumu Koorero he pou whakapapa - Located at Waahi Paa on the shores of the Waikato River.

From the intrepid voyagers of the Tainui canoe, from Hawai’i they came. It was in the 14th century that they made landfall at Whangaparoa, the Bay of Whales near Cape Runaway.
Following the coastline to Torere, Whi- tianga, the Hauraki Gulf, and Waitemata making their final landfall at Kawhia; the storyline of Te Tumu Korero is set among the deep bays, lagoons, tidal inlets, forest and river. By the 15 century, Kakati, sixth descendant from Hoturoa, commander and Lord of the Tainui canoe our whakapapa begins to unfold.
