We got some great feedback about Blink from the Emberlight International Film Festival in Michigan, USA. Well done Blink whānau!

Well now, isn't this a lovely surprise. We're happy to announce that Blink has been selected for the Emberlight Festival in the great state of Michigan, USA!

The Emberlight Festival is an annual celebration that runs throughout July and August and features stars from Broadway and The Metropolitan Opera, independent films from around the world, multiple fine art shows, poetry, and an arts leadership training program for young people.

We're really stoked to be selected. Based on how well we were received at Misty Flicks earlier this year, we decided to approach some more festivals. Hopefully we'll have more good news to share, in the coming months.

It was so great to see Blink up on the big screen last night, and catch up with so many of the cast and crew at the Misty Flicks Film Festival in Hamilton. It was a fantastic night. Special mentions to Adam Harvey for picking up the best editing gong for Blink, and Graham Lauder (lighting) who also picked up an award for his work in another fantastic film at the festival.

One point that the live screening really drove home was the need to enter Blink into more festivals. The audience understood the film, and laughed in all the right places (much to our relief!) So we're going to investigate more festival opportunities this year. Watch this space! And thanks again to everyone who made it to Misty Flicks this year. What a great night!

We finally got to have our cast and crew screening tonight, despite Covid-19, thanks to Ivan at so grateful that so many of you could make it, and we're thinking of those that couldn't (we'll arrange a special screening for you soon).

Massive thank you to the talented bunch that are the cast and crew. You are amazing! We couldn't do it without you!

Thanks also to our fantastic sponsors and Sandy and Andy from the fine folks at and Hamilton, and Tom Mowbray of the Mowbray Group. We're really glad some of you could make it tonight.

As for Blink, we're currently doing the festival circuit, having submitted Blink to several film festivals.

Here it is folks, your latest Blink update.

Well, it's true what they say 'Good things take time.' We finally have a finished film, and it looks beautiful and sounds stunning!

Tēnā tātou,

Our film is all but complete, and Paige and I were excited to announce we'd be hosting a cast and crew screening next month to show you the finished product, but with the constantly evolving COVID-19 situation, I've made the call we will postpone any screening for cast and crew until this situation is resolved.

This is an unprecedented event in New Zealand, and around the world, and it's easy to be overwhelmed by the media and the words spoken by those around us. It's important to retain perspective, and practice compassion - he waka eke noa - we're all sharing this boat together, after all.

The New Zealand government has launched a useful new website - Unite against COVID-19 - putting everything in one place to help stop the spread. It's full of useful advice on stopping the spread, and information on the virus. You can see it here: https://covid19.govt.nz

In the meantime, keep calm, practice good hygiene, social distancing, and look out for one another. Together we'll get through this.

Kia ora,

We've been a little quiet on the Blink front. Time for an update.

Since filming we put a lot of work into post to meet some festival deadlines.Unfortunately our first two submissions were unsuccessful. Following some feedback we're doing more work in post. We aim to have a draft ready in January, and hope to submit to festivals in early 2020.

Paige, our awesome writer-director has been busy in the meantime, welcoming a lovely new addition to the Space Invader Films family in August ☺️ Chris has been busy working on his pitch, and helping Paige establish the Waikato Film Hub Trust (as if Paige didn't have enough on her plate already).

In the meantime, here's a couple of photos of Paige, Chris, Kelly and Jason working on the sound fx/foley.

Some of the cast and crew from BlinkFilm recently took part in the 48Hours Furious Film-making Competition, submitting the short horror-esq film 'Listen' as our entry.

It was awards night last night and we were delighted to be nominated for 10 awards (including best short and best director), and thrilled to walk away with a respectable 3rd place overall, best female filmmaker (for Paige our Director), and best sound editing. The team had a great night.

Thanks to all those who came in support of us, and local film! You rock!
