Coming up on the 31st of October here in Invercargill it’s the Annual Car Show for the Falcon GT South Island Club. There is some exciting news and a bit of a buzz coming up for this event. The team have been invited to attend all the events that will be running over that weekend and insight to some of the cars that will be in attendance along with interviews with the owners. Some will be live and some will be recorded for later releases. Leading up to the event, this month we showcase some of the fantastic local cars and their owners with a full redo and catch up with Roger Whyte who many know as being one of the largest collectors of GT Falcons and other cars in the country. We will do a full and recorded interview with him very soon. Our team will then catch up with Brendon Mason who has a very tidy collection of GT Falcons in his possession here in the Deep South. And then we will return back to Robin MacDonald who himself has a couple of nice GT Falcons along with some other awesome looking machines.

These interviews will be scattered over the month of September and if your a Ford Falcon GT lover, this will be right up your alley. Stay tuned for the first interview due this week.

Our team have been working exceptionally hard over the off season to build something very special. As a part of that build, The Pits TV now has a brand new web site. With the introduction of our content supplier last season, it was all new and fresh for them as it was for us. We have been developing more secure options and user friendly functions to make things far easier for those of you that will use our services. Here are just a couple of things that have been added.

1: The thing we are most proud of is our interaction with you guys at home. Whether you’re on your phone, on your TV or any other device, The Pits TV team can now send push notifications direct to your device. If the weather is sketchy, visit our web site and get up to date information on delayed starts or whether the event will be cancelled instantly without having to scroll through Facebook waiting for information updates. You don’t even need to refresh, the information will just arrive for you. We can also use this service to give people direct links or promotional material about the event. We have successfully been running this for the Heartland Rugby and works a treat. We can even send you happy birthday messages.

2: Full blown TV browser. We are well aware that people watch our streams on big screen tv. We have now introduced a new browser specially for big screen tvs. Got a big screen? visit www.thepitstv.co.nz head to apps and then click on the tv browser and save it to your bookmarks. This gives you simple and easy to use access with some of those brands that have terrible remotes.

3: TV compatability. The Pits TV now has the latest in technology when it comes to streaming and how we deliver it. Because of this, some older tvs are not compatible. We are making it simple for you. Head to our web site, go to live video and there you will see a small demo video for you to check to see if your tv will work. If it doesn’t, then you tv is not compatible and allows you to plug a laptop in via HDMI. You can do this at any time.

4: Brand new app. We now host our own app on our own platform. No matter the device, head to our website and go to apps and follow the simple instructions on how to install the app on your device, it’s easy and it works. We do suggest that you have Google Chrome downloaded on your device for chromecast features to work correctly.

5: Calendar. It’s amazing how often we get asked where we are going to be over the season so to make it far easier, there is a simple to use calendar on our web site now. As you click through the months, you will be able to see the events that are booked in, tentative booked events and even completed meetings. If you click on any event, the information will expand and give you further information about the event, where it is, start times etc. Also handy is the ability to book straight from the calendar. If you have an event, click to the month, then the day and then click in “Book”. Fill out the information and this will send it directly to our team who will respond as soon as they can.

That’s about all for this update, we don’t want to fry your brain too much, but we will give updates on some of the latest changes as the season draws near.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Welcome to The Pits TV, one of New Zealands Premier Live Event Streaming, On Demand and Broadcasting suppliers. Have an event? Get in touch with our team today to see how we can help you!

THE NEXT CHAPTER FOR THE PITS TV

After 10 years in business, we believe the time is right to make some important changes to the way The Pits TV operates and presents itself.
Over the past five months, we have undertaken a comprehensive review of the business — looking not only at what we do, but why we do it. After a decade, it is important to stop, assess where we have come from, learn from our experiences and make sure the decisions we make are right for the business, our partners, our staff and the people we work alongside.

For the past 10 years, Jason has very much brought people along for the journey. Regular updates have shared the highs, the lows, the successes, the frustrations and some of the realities of running The Pits TV.

Some people have appreciated that openness and honesty. Others have felt at times that Jason has been too opinionated or become involved in matters he perhaps shouldn't have. For Jason, however, sharing those thoughts and experiences was always part of bringing people along on the journey and showing the realities behind what we do.

Over time, though, the reaction to that openness has taken a toll, and that is something we can no longer ignore.
Those who follow us regularly will have probably already noticed that these types of updates have largely stopped. That has been deliberate and forms part of a wider change in direction for The Pits TV.

Going forward, The Pits TV page will become a professional marketing and content-focused platform. Its purpose will be to promote the events we are involved with, showcase our content, support our partner tracks and organisations, and provide value and exposure to the advertising partners who make what we do possible.

The Pits TV has also been fortunate to receive some exciting opportunities outside the traditional realms of speedway. As the business grows into these areas, the level of professionalism expected of us also grows. We recognise that our public presence needs to evolve with that.

Another area reviewed has been the support we have provided to events where The Pits TV supplied the platform but did not have our own production crew at the venue.

This originally came about as a way of helping another group gain greater exposure for its events and was initially intended as a one-season arrangement around Western Springs. Somehow, that continued beyond its original intention.

While we were happy to help, ultimately the arrangement was not sustainable for our business.

On weekends where multiple events were operating, we could find ourselves monitoring and supporting an event remotely while our own crews were working at completely different venues. That divided our attention and could potentially take resources away from the events and organisations that had directly engaged The Pits TV.

We reached the point where we had to ask ourselves a simple question: where does our responsibility need to be?

The answer is with the events, tracks and organisations that have entrusted The Pits TV with their coverage.

If we commit to an event, we want to give that event 100%.

We sincerely thank everyone who was involved in those platform arrangements and appreciate the opportunity to have played a part in helping those events reach a wider audience.

As we enter this next season, our focus is firmly on delivering professional, reliable and well-presented content for our partner tracks, events and organisations.

We also recognise that some people genuinely enjoyed the more personal side of The Pits TV and being brought along for the journey. We appreciate that support, and we apologise to those who will miss that part of what this page has been.

But after 10 years, the business has reached a point where the focus needs to change.

These decisions have also been made with our advertising partners and our employees in mind. They deserve to have confidence in the organisation they are associated with and to know that we are prepared to review ourselves, make changes where necessary, and ensure the business operates professionally and in a way that we believe is right on both a business and moral level.

A re-branding was considered but The Pits TV name itself isn't the issue so therefore, for now, it will remain The Pits TV

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities The Pits TV has received over the past decade and for everyone who has contributed to that journey.

Ten years has taught us a lot.

There have been successes. There have been mistakes. There have been challenges. And there have been opportunities we could never have imagined when this all started.

We can't change every part of the journey that got us here — nor would we want to.

But we can learn from it.

The next chapter of The Pits TV will be about our content, our events, our partners and doing the job we are there to do to the very best of our ability.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the first 10 years.

Now it's time to get on with the next 10.
