WHAT IS AITSL SKILLS ASSESSMENT 👇🏻👇🏻
AITSL stands for Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership.
It’s the official body that assesses whether your teaching qualifications and experience meet Australia’s standards for teachers.
- This is mandatory for most skilled visas (like the 482 sponsorship or 189/190 independent visas).
NOTE : Without it, you can’t get your teaching registration or your visa approved.
This is basically Australia’s way of saying👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
- We need to check that your education degree and teaching experience are equal to ours before we let you teach here. ( that is ensuring your degrees are not Fâkẽ)

- your education must be equivalent to at least an Australian 4-year Bachelor of Education
- A degree + a separate teaching qualification (e.g. BA + PGCE).
- You must include at least 45 days of supervised teaching practicum.
English language proficiency👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
- You must have IELTS Academic with a minimum of 7.0 in reading & writing, 8.0 in speaking & listening (or PTE equivalent).
( This does not apply to you if your qualifications are from Australia, Canada, Ireland, NZ, UK, or USA)

- Degree certificates + transcripts (including details of your teaching subjects & supervised teaching).
- Practicum letters showing at least 45 days supervised teaching, on school letterhead, signed by your university or placement school.

- Proof of name change (if needed).
- IELTS/PTE results (unless exempt).
- Professional references (optional but strengthens your case).

- Fill in your details, upload documents.
PAYMENT FOR APPLICATION FEE
- As of 2025, around AUD $1,050 (may vary slightly from time to time ).

- The Processing takes about 10-12 weeks.
- If approved, they’ll issue a positive skills assessment letter you can use for your visa.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
- Make sure your practicum letter includes exact dates & days.
- Transcripts must clearly list the subjects and indicate the teaching area (e.g. “Mathematics Education”).
- All documents not in English must be officially translated.
- Keep copies of everything — you’ll need them for teacher registration in your state (like WA).
