Te Reo Irirangi o Te Hiku o Te Ika (Te Hiku Media) is a charitable media organisation, belonging to the iwi of Ngāti Kuri, Te Aupōuri, Ngāi Takoto, Te Rārawa and Ngāti Kahu. The station was founded in December 1990 and during that time has transitioned from an iwi radio station to an iwi media hub. The organisation focuses on iwi radio broadcasting in the Māori language, live video streaming, online access to iwi archives, regional media video content production and the development of digital technology for enhanced access to ‘te reo o te kainga’. Te Hiku Media developed an online whare kōrero (digital platform) to increase engagement with our audience. The whare kōrero is now our digital repository for iwi corpus, and the most effective way of distributing Māori media content.
