Part 2 of the Chat with Shane Max- Head of Global Extension at Zespri!

In part 2 we ask Shane how the extension team came about, what they are currently working on. We talk about the importance of Grower Innovation, and past vs present issues. Talks of the red variety, issues and positives of it. Pollination, natural and artificial and the importance of them!
We then move onto asking Shane about a typical day in the life as Head of Global Extension and what it might include. We then ask about the growth of the Extension team and what Shane would look for in candidates. We finished off the chat with little bit about where the industry is headed!

Shane is Head of Global Extension at Zespri and joins Aimee and Darshan to discuss a wide range of topics, this episode has been split into part 1 and part 2 as the conversation was just too good to cut short.

We discussed; Shane's background and how he got into his role at Zespri, we discussed the Zespri brand and how highly sought after it is overseas. We then went into the camaraderie of the kiwifruit industry, team values and how you almost feel part of a family. We discussed the history behind the taste incentive payments, and how that came about. We asked Shane to delve deeper into what the Global Extension team does at Zespri and the projects they are undertaking. Fruit quality was also brought up an how we can go about combatting this in the future!
