🎉 A Sneak Peek at What’s Happening Behind the Scenes!

Happy New Year, everyone!

You may have noticed I’ve been ‘fiddling’ with my brand over the holidays. All will be revealed soon with an official launch once the key parts of the rebrand are complete!

Rebranding, complete with a new name and legal entity, has been a great way to spend the holidays... said no one ever 😅. But in all seriousness, it’s exciting, even if it’s a bit of a marathon.

Here’s what you need to know for now:

📧 Emails: Messages sent to [email protected] and other Slice Creative addresses are now forwarded to [email protected]. However, it’d be great if you could update your contacts when you get a moment.

🌐 Website: If you visit slicecreative.co.nz, you’ll now be redirected to hootjolt.com. It’s a rough draft for now, but I’ll be refining it as we go.

✅ Same services, evolved approach: I’m still offering the same core services, but after years of growth and experience, how I do things and what I offer has evolved. Yes, this might sound contradictory for now, but trust me, it’ll all make sense soon 🤗.

🔵 Facebook name: I am working on getting this changed; Facebook don't make things like this easy sometimes!

The official launch will be a few weeks (or maybe months) away. Technically, the rebrand is done—I’m just wrangling all the ducks into neat rows before promoting it actively.

Oh, and this photo? Absolutely nothing to do with the rebrand, but this stunning orchid that has thrived in my office for a number of years despite my total neglect and this feels oddly symbolic of this new phase—resilient, vibrant, and a little unexpected 💜.

I recently had the opportunity to work with Kate Krom and Graeme Fullerton on the creation of a new brand for their butchery and delicatessen, Katikati Meat Masters.

Kate and Graeme took over an established butchery and have transformed it into something truly special. Their commitment to quality products, excellent customer service, and supporting their local community made this a project I was so proud to be part of.

𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒

✨ 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅 ✨�Working closely with Kate and Graeme, we created a fresh, bold logo that reflects their vision, paired with a cohesive brand identity including colours, fonts, and copywriting to tell their story.

✨ 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 ✨�We ensured their new brand was consistently applied and professionally represented across all touchpoints, including business cards, product labels, print advertising, and vouchers.

✨ 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆 ✨
Located on the busy main street of Katikati, near Tauranga, it was important for Katikati Meat Masters to have bold, professional signage that not only captured the attention of passing traffic but also reflected the quality of their products and services. The signage underscores their commitment to quality, helping to build a welcoming and dependable image within the community.
�
✨ 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒈 ✨�To further enhance visibility, I designed and sourced a branded promotional flag. Flags are an excellent marketing tool, leveraging movement and eye-catching design to draw attention. The flag was created to complement the building signage while serving as a flexible and impactful feature that reinforces the brand identity and increases awareness among both pedestrians and drivers.

✨ 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 ✨�To kickstart their online presence, I set up and optimised their page, created initial posts, and developed a strategy to help them connect with their community.

This project was more than just a rebrand—it was about supporting a local business as they launched a new chapter. Kate and Graeme’s dedication to producing top-quality meat and serving their community shines through in everything they do. Their butchery and delicatessen is definitely worth a visit—seriously, their meat is AMAZING!

⚠️ IMPORTANT: WATCH OUT FOR SOPHISTICATED SCAMS ⚠️

****THERE IS A NEW ONE TARGETING GMAIL USERS****

Scams are becoming more and more convincing, and they’re showing up everywhere—via phone calls, texts, Facebook messages, emails, and more. Recently, we've seen very credible scams targeting Gmail users, so it's important to stay extra cautious.

Even if you're not a client, you can reach out for a brief chat if you're dealing with a suspicious situation. I’m happy to offer some general advice to help you figure out the next steps.

Here are a few ways to check for scams yourself:

🔍 Be cautious of hidden email addresses: Scammers can hide the real email address and make it look more legitimate. Always check the full email address carefully—don’t just rely on the display name!

🛑 Don't click on unknown links or attachments: Even if the message seems legitimate, avoid clicking on anything unless you’re sure it’s safe.

🔑 Be wary of urgent requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency. If you're being rushed, take a step back and verify the information.

👁️ Look for grammar mistakes or awkward phrasing: Many scams have errors in spelling or grammar, which can be a red flag.

🌐 Check with Google: If you get a suspicious email, text, phone call, or message, search key phrases in Google. 📲✉️💻 Many scams are reported online, and you’ll often find others have flagged the same thing, helping you identify if it’s a scam. 👀💡

🔒 !!!! IMPORTANT !!!! Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) NOW: This is the MOST EFFECTIVE WAY to secure your accounts! Make sure 2FA is turned on for all important logins like Facebook, other social media accounts, and website logins. It adds an extra layer of protection, making it much harder for scammers to access your accounts—even if they manage to steal your password.

If you’re ever unsure, stop and get a second opinion!

Feel free to share this with friends and family, especially people you know who are elderly or not technically competent.

I get almost as excited as my clients do when I see their brand showcased like this 😃😍. Paulette is one of my longest-standing clients; she was there right from the beginning, around 15 years ago.
