Big mihi to everyone who entered our latest meat pack giveaway 🙌 We loved reading all the answers and seeing our community come together to share knowledge and support one another 💛

This week’s giveaway was proudly sponsored by Mana Wahine, a service based at Kōkiri Marae, alongside the legends at Creative Meats 🥩✨ Ngā mihi nui to you both for making this possible for our whānau.

Our pātai this round was:

1️⃣ What is Mana Wahine?
2️⃣ What is Kōkiri Cancer Navigators Service?
3️⃣ What is Te Mauri?

Everyone had the option to answer one, two, or all three questions for a better chance to win the meat pack 👏🏽

And a big congratulations to our winner, Angel Ngatikaura 🎉

Here’s what Angel shared:

“Mana wahine is a service provided by Kokiri Marae that awhi our wahine to empower themselves. Not only by wahine services such as screenings of te mea and breasts but strength within the wahine themselves.

Cancer navigators are the unsung heroes of kaimahi who relentlessly awhi the whanau that are going through their cancer hikoi. Navigators are there to pick them up and take them to their appointments and try to translate the doctor’s korero, back to them as best they can.

Te Mauri is a safe and healing space for the whanau that are battling cancer. It’s also a good space for the carers as well. For anyone that has cancer, haere mai to Te Mauri.”

Such beautiful and meaningful whakaaro 💛 Thank you, Angel, for sharing this important kōrero with us and our community.

Also, a special thank you to Angel’s son for picking up the meat pack on her behalf 🙌

And whānau… the next meat pack giveaway pātai is already out now 👀 So make sure to get your answers in for your chance to be our next winner! 🥩✨

A huge mihi to the Mayor of Lower Hutt, Ken Laban, for inviting the Omata FM team along to the Hutt Valley Sports Awards 🏆✨

What an amazing night it was! We really enjoyed being there and celebrating alongside all the incredible nominees and hearing about the awesome achievements happening across the Hutt Valley sporting community 👏

The performances throughout the night were so cool and definitely made the evening even more special! It was also awesome catching up with so many familiar faces and meeting some amazing people who attended the event.

And honestly seeing the Omata FM team all dressed up fancy for once was probably one of the highlights of the night too 😂 We definitely cleaned up pretty well for the occasion!

The kai was absolutely beautiful and yummy, the atmosphere was awesome, and overall it was such a great experience for our whole team.

Thank you again for having us, we truly appreciated the invite and hope we get the chance to come back again next year 👀

A huge mihi to everyone who entered our latest meat pack giveaway, every single piece of advice shared was absolutely amazing 💛

We hope our rangatahi are able to take these whakaaro on board, learn from them, and carry them with them as they continue to grow. There was so much wisdom, encouragement, and positivity shared from our community, and it was awesome to see everyone uplifting our young people 🙌

And a big congratulations to Kasey Melville, our winner this round! 🎉

Our pātai was:
“What’s one piece of advice you’d give to rangatahi growing up today?”

Here’s what Kasey shared:
“Treat others how you would like to be treated. All you can do is try your best in everything you do, especially at school. If you don’t win/pass it doesn’t matter, as long as you tried 100% you and your whānau and friends should/will be proud of you. Stay true to yourself, don’t let others influence your decisions and/or change the way you present yourself to the world. Only your own opinion matters so make sure you like who you are/how you are acting. Negative outside opinions from acquaintances or so called friends don’t matter, so don’t let them put out your spark.”

Such a powerful and uplifting message 👏🏽
It’s a beautiful reminder for our rangatahi to back themselves, stay true to who they are, and always give their best no matter what. Words like these can really make a difference 💛

Ka pai, Kasey! Thank you for sharing your whakaaro with us 🙌

Ngā mihi nui to Creative Meats for making this giveaway possible 💛

And don’t forget the new meat pack giveaway pātai is already up 👀
So get your answers in now whānau, and you could be our next winner! 🥩✨
