r the on-going well being of the people, the wellness of environment and for well-being of the wider world. Our Focus
Kia u nga taonga tuku iho me nga tini ahuatanga pai mo te ao whanui, hei oranga tonutanga mo te iwi me te taiao. To cherish the inherent gifts and the many beneficial attributes of the wider world for the enduring well being of people and the environment. He mea nui rawa, kia noho ai, kia mahi ai, kia ako ano ai tatou, i roto i te taiao ora. Ma te noho i roto i te taiao ora, ka rongo anotia he reo ora; he tohu ano tenei mo te tino oranga o te tangata, te hapori me te ao e noho nei tatou. It is essential to live, to work and to learn, in healthy, sustainably supportive environments. This assures healthy language and voice, which is symbolic of the well-being of the people, of community and of the world in which we live. Te Whare Awhina O Te Iwi Community Trust was established in the 1980s. The trust was set up to give support ( tautoko) and assistance ( awhina) to people in our rural communities; in particular regard, to human needs / wellbeing, where the wellness of environment is most essential. A focus on helping our most vulnerable, particularly our elders and young people remains core to our kaupapa. This however requires us, to ensure, that the more abled, have the capacity to take care of their own well-being, as a basic need, to enable the helping others. Tautoko Radio was established to give voice to our concerns, for the ongoing well-being of our people, our communities and living environments, where the promotion and use of Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori is essential to and expressive of, an inclusive, Universal Maori World View. Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori, essentially reminds us of our responsibilities for the well-being of the world in which we live and for each other. Our collective responsibilities (Kaitiakitanga) aligns with our inherent authority ( Mana tuku iho) as people of the land (Tangata Whenua), to be caretakers of our world. The wellbeing of the people is dependent on the wellbeing of the biosphere; earth / land /whenua (Papatuanuku) and the wellbeing of the atmosphere, ( Ranginui). Te Reo ( language and voice), is an outward expression of our conscious state of being, and the innate desire, to uphold what is good and right, accordingly ( tikanga).

Te Pū o te Wheke March for Te Reo Māori – 50 Years of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori
Kaikohe came alive today as tamariki, rangatahi and kaiako from local kōhanga reo, kura kaupapa and primary schools marched proudly through the main streets, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Māori Language Week.
Voices rang out with waiata, karanga and haka as the march moved towards Lindvart Park, where the students were welcomed with kai, kōrero and giveaways on stage.
Local leaders and personalities including Quentin Hita, Moko Te Pania and Huhana Lyndon stood alongside the students, showing strong support for te reo Māori and the next generation of speakers.
He rā nui whakaharahara mō Kaikohe – a powerful celebration of te reo Māori, our taonga tuku iho
