The completion of a significant multi-year upgrade to the stormwater network and public spaces in Wood Street in Mangawhai was cause for celebration earlier this month. Hundreds turned out for a street party, organised by Kaipara District Council in collaboration with Wood Street businesses, which featured twilight shopping and entertainment. Kapa haka by Mangawhai Beach School brought the closed off part of Wood Street to life. Thank you to Anna Thoroughgood for the great photos. Since Mangawhai Rotary launched its Learn to Sail programme in 2021, hundreds of local youngsters have taken to the water, discovering balance, confidence and a passion for the sea. UPDATED 8.50am 11 DECEMBER
Great news! The crews working on Mangawhai Road have completed the bulk of the work on the rehab and reseal of 2.8km section between Avocado Lane and 1500 Mangawhai Road. The road is now open under stop/go through the weekend until Tuesday. The crews will seal on Monday and the road will be back open as normal after that.

Thanks for your patience and a big shout out to the road crews for working hard to complete it as quickly as possible.

Mangawhai Road will be under a 24/7 road closure from Monday 8 December to Friday 12 December (weather permitting), while road crews complete a full rehabilitation and reseal of a 2.8km section of the road between Avocado Lane and 1500 Mangawhai Road.

🚧 If you’re heading to or from Auckland, you can avoid the closure by travelling via Kaiwaka.
🚧 For nearby/surrounding residents, detours will be in place via Te Arai Point Road, Coal Hill Road and Cames Road (light vehicles only).

Thank you for your patience while we complete these works. Our crews will be working double shifts to get this work done quickly and ahead of the busy holiday period.

Mangawhai residents are again being invited to embrace the Christmas spirit by donating festive foods to the Te Whai Community Trust Mangawhai. Donations of non-perishable festive foods and new unwrapped gifts for children (newborn to 18 years) can be delivered to a local collection point before Monday December 15.

Ideas for non-perishable festive foods include biscuits, crackers, chocolate, candy canes, mixed nuts, puddings, jelly, fruit mince tarts, pretzels, popcorn, chips, reduced cream and onion soup for dips, canned fruit, bottles or cans of drinks, tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate.
