Fundraiser launched to support two children after mother’s death in Nelson
A fundraiser has been launched to help provide a stable home and future education for the two children of 48-year-old Nicola Yvonne Perry, who died during a serious incident in Tāhunanui, Nelson, earlier this month.
Police confirmed Perry and a 49-year-old man were found dead at a Parkers Road property on Friday, 4 September. Earlier that day, officers had received a report of an alleged sh***un theft from a store in Annesbrook before being called to a fi****ms incident. Police said the two people knew each other and that nobody else was being sought. Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
Perry’s sister, Tracey Schroder, has since established a Givealittle fundraiser for her two nephews. According to reporting published on 14 September, the appeal is intended to help provide the children with a safe and stable home and contribute towards their future schooling and study. More than $12,000 had reportedly been raised by Monday night.
Police have said they are supporting Perry’s loved ones. Her family has thanked the Nelson community for its support while asking for privacy as they grieve.
