Today we started producing Chey Presley’s song. Guitar and vocal tracked and is nice and tight. This week we will add additional guitars, bass and a drum beat to enhance the song. Chey is practicing the harmonies this coming week. It’s a great song! Watch out for this guy playing gigs around Nelson this summer!

The classic 20 year old Ibanez had a makeover today. New strings, fret board scrape and gold tuning pegs installed followed by a polish. Isn’t she beautiful! 🤩

New golden tuning heads ordered for my Ibanez Artcore AS103 electric guitar. Should match the golden Humbucker pickups and bridge! Building a Carbon Fibre strum pad aswell. Pics coming soon.

It was a good day for hunting. This machine will take things up a new level. It’s a 6 track looper. Loop verses and chorus sections separately including looping vocal harmonies. Very happy after months of research, this is the one!

Loved working with these guys today. The String Band. They work on the vineyards here and are recording an album. Traditional instruments and a real box bass. Great energy and authentic vibes.

I’ve had a lot of questions about AI in recording. When you use AI to create your song and in particular vocals it’s a great tool to get ideas or perspectives, however without a real person singing the track has little value.

A bit like a generic pic of a family, isn’t your actual family. Would you hang a pic of a generic & perfect family on your wall, and frame it?

No. It has no meaning, little value. Such is it with AI song recordings. Being slick or polished isn’t really enough. Leave a comment below if you have any questions or comments.

This quote kind of sums up my less is more approach to songwriting and production. I’ve gone back to mostly stock plugins these days and getting even better results.

Time and care are still the most important factors to genuine songwriting and production.
