Burger Nelson Tasman Is Back

The region’s favourite winter burger battle returns 15 June – 12 July 2026, with a massive lineup of local venues and the launch of the Burger Passport .

The buns are toasted, the patties are prepped, and the region is ready. Burger Nelson Tasman — the winter burger battle that had Nelson Tasman eating, voting, and talking all season long — is officially back for 2026, running from 15 June to 12 July.

This year’s competition is shaping up to be the most exciting yet. Building on last year’s runaway success, which saw more than 20 venues go head-to-head and The Smoking Barrel claim the crown with their legendary Buldak Fried Chicken Noodle Burger, Burger Nelson Tasman 2026 brings back returning champions, welcomes bold new challengers, and raises the bar on what a region-wide culinary event can be.

Founders Book Fair on the horizon

This King’s Birthday weekend marks the start of a nine-day treasure hunt through a whimsical labyrinth of over 400,000 items.
Whether searching for a sun-faded childhood classic, a rare vinyl record to perfect a collection, or a rainy-day puzzle for the family, the rustic charm of the park provides the ultimate backdrop for discovery.
This year’s fair is brimming with: Books of every genre (from historical non-fiction to contemporary bestsellers), Crates of vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs Puzzles, board games, and magazines and An extensive children’s book section perfect for young readers.

‘My places’ campaign urges locals to support region’s businesses through winter

A new region-wide campaign has been launched to encourage Nelson Tasman residents to support local businesses facing economic pressures ahead of a challenging winter.
The "My places" campaign, led by the Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) with support from Hospitality New Zealand, is focused on inspiring local discovery. Rising fuel costs, tighter household budgets, and softer visitor activity were currently affecting many local retailers, cafés, and hospitality venues.
As winter was the quietest period for the local visitor economy - making up just 15% of annual visitor spend - the agency was urging locals to redirect their discretionary spending back into the region.
NRDA chief executive Fiona Wilson said the campaign was about strengthening community connection while helping drive visibility for businesses during the quieter winter months.
"We know many businesses across the region are feeling the pressure right now," Wilson said.
"This campaign is about encouraging people to reconnect with the places and experiences that make Nelson Tasman special.”
