A rising talent in women’s rugby, she has already represented her home province of Taranaki as well as Waikato. Known for her strength and agility in the midfield, she has since taken her passion for the game to the international stage, signing with Eibar Rugby Taldea in Spain.

Her move abroad marks a bold step in her career, showcasing her commitment to growth, cultural exchange, and representing wāhine Māori on the global rugby scene. Nau mai haere mai Rongo Hohaia.

In just three weeks, people from across Taranaki and the wider motu will gather to represent their iwi at the prestigious Taranaki Whānui Māori Rugby League Tournament. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the tournament — a powerful celebration of kotahitanga and whanaungatanga through the sport of Whituporo Riki.

Join Ngahina Capper to share treasured memories from past tournaments, as well as exciting plans for this year’s event in Rahotū and the special anniversary dinner celebration in Ngāmotu. Make sure to tune in.

She is a respected and long-standing figure in the Taranaki Māori Rugby League community.

Deeply involved with Taranaki Whānui Māori Rugby League, the Hawera Hawks, and Ngāti Ruanui Māori Rugby League, she has played key roles as both a member and organiser.

She has also built a strong career in governance and community leadership and with her passion for the sport and strategic vision for its future she will play a pivotal role in the progression of Netball within the region.

🏈She is a driven and talented athlete whose journey from Touch to Rugby League showcases her resilience, loyalty, and deep whānau ties. After studying sports leadership and excelling in Touch, she transitioned into Rugby League, quickly rising to represent Auckland, NZ Māori, and the Kiwi Ferns.

🥊He is a former competitive boxer whose career was cut short by injury. After representing Aotearoa on the world stage, he turned to coaching and co-founded Taniwha Boxing, a kaupapa Māori gym in Spotswood. He is a former professional rugby league player who played for the New Zealand Warriors and represented New Zealand Māori however his life took a dramatic turn due to criminal activity spending six years in prison.
