🏠 NEW PLYMOUTH DISTRICT PLAN: The Government is moving to override parts of New Plymouth’s planning rules following a request from the city’s mayor.

The proposed changes cover everything from building coverage and outdoor living areas to driveways, earthworks and development in Mixed-Use Zones.
Just 20 submissions were received during the Government's consultation.

🔥 BELL BLOCK: Beach and campsite fires spreading in the wind have been behind some of the repeated fires along the Bell Block coast, Fire and Emergency has revealed.

But the cause of the latest blaze remains undetermined.

FENZ has also revealed a 50-metre-wide firebreak is being established to help protect nearby homes after repeated fires in the area.

KIWI PILOT: A New Zealand pilot reportedly helped save more than 170 passengers after a flydubai jet plunged thousands of feet during a violent cockpit attack.

Two off-duty pilots travelling as passengers took control of the aircraft after passengers and crew subdued the alleged attacker.

One of those pilots has been reported to be a Kiwi.

🔴 BREAKING: The Reserve Bank has ordered TSB to obtain an independent report after the bank identified issues with how it calculated and reported capital and liquidity ratios.

The report is due in November, raising questions about TSB’s proposed sale to Heartland. TSB says it remains well capitalised and its liquidity and funding are sound.
