Taranaki's local independent and alternative radio station. Yes, you can help!

The MOST means more new music

https://linktr.ee/MostFM Taranaki's real community, alternative radio station playing a great mix of Kiwi and International Sounds. Operating since 1993, The Most is now part of the Taranaki landscape, a welcome relief to the blandness and repetition of commercial radio. We are a station with real soul and attitude that reflects Taranaki's diverse community and activ

ities. In fact, we celebrate this! Real live announcers, in fact nearly 40 of them every week, with interviews & guests from bands, the arts, business and the community. The Most is operated by the Taranaki FM Trust, a registered charitable trust, relying on the time and effort of many volunteers and helpers. Our aim is to provide a community-based alternative to drab mainstream radio. Focussing on a progressive mix of local, New Zealand and International music to our listeners in Taranaki and far beyond. We keep advertising to a minimum, averaging about 3 minutes per hour. We need to meet our operational costs e.g. staff, broadcasting fees, etc. from advertising and sponsorship revenues, but rely on grants and donations for equipment upgrades and expansion. Get the word out there that we are on-air at 100.4 FM all across Taranaki, and at 107.4 FM in Oakura. And we are live 24/7 on the web streaming at www.mostfm.com

Choose a chance... The Most FM is part of the play in Monopoly, the Taranaki edition. This local version of the classic board game is a Taranaki Chamber of Commerce initiative involving businesses and organisations around the maunga - and we're proud to be part of the fun. However, if you do pick a chance card starring The Most, it will cost you some Monopoly money - thanks for supporting our alternative music station 100.4FM (107.4 down the coast)!

Oh, that’s right, it’s KING’s Birthday now. I’ll never get used to that. Anyhow, the important thing is we still get a long weekend here in Aotearoa, which is more than the UK ever did, so I’ll mark the occasion with songs about kings and kingdoms. It’s actually the show I had planned for last King’s Birthday Weekend but I got sick and Warwick had to cover for me. Featuring tracks from Mark Knopfler, First Aid Kit, Dave Dobbyn, Doves, Pickle Darling, Lindisfarne, Abigail Washburn, Neil Finn, Kate Bush, Bruce Cockburn, Sara Bareilles and, in a double-whammy, Troy Kingi singing about a king.

This week's Live Gig Hour will be split between two great singer-songwriters, one who sadly died in obscurity at the age of 35, the other a legend still going strong in her 80s. We begin with a rare concert recording of Judee Sill, the first artist signed to David Geffen's Asylum label, recorded at Boston Music Hall on 3 October 1971, as opening act for Crosby & Nash. Then, fittingly for King's Birthday weekend, a set by Carole King, taken from her November 2007 reunion concert at LA's legendary Troubadour with James Taylor, backed by guitarist Danny Kortchmar, bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russ Kunkel, with JT on acoustic guitar and vocals.
Tune into The Most 100.4 FM, 4pm Sunday, brought to you by Devon West Pharmacy.
