Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Ready to Rise Business Breakfast last week!

It was an inspiring morning filled with insights, great conversations, and a shared sense of optimism about what’s possible for Kiwi businesses as we head into 2026.

A big thank you to our amazing speakers: Sam Stubbs, James Boult, and Sean Bell, and to our panel of experts Neil Gaught, Kate Wilson, and Loren Tomlinson. And of course, thank you to our MC Marisa Fong for bringing it all together.

We couldn’t have delivered this event without the support of our Premier Sponsor 2degrees and event sponsors The Social Collective, PayZe, and Coffees & Content - not to mention the great coffee so early in the morning.

And thanks to those who attended for making our first breakfast event such a success. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!

Most entrepreneurs start their business dreaming of freedom: No boss, no rules, total control. But as leadership expert Brad Giles writes in a new NZBusiness op-ed, that same freedom can actually backfire.

Without accountability or clear guardrails, business owners often chase too many ideas, change direction too quickly, and stretch themselves (and their teams) too thin. The result?
👉 Stress goes up
👉 Profit goes down
👉 Freedom disappears

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Brad explains why patience and discipline are the real superpowers behind sustainable freedom, and how business owners can reclaim the life they imagined when they started.
This one’s a must-read for any SME owner.

CEO Chris Lamers outlines how the lender’s franchise model, with 55 locally owned offices nationwide, is empowering small and medium businesses with lending decisions made by people who truly understand local markets.

Key insights from the story:
🚀 60% portfolio growth in three years
🏢 35% of the SME lending market and rising
🤝 Direct partnerships with well-known franchise brands
📱 Direct access to local franchise owners making real lending decisions
