Remembrance . . . Air Training Corps (ATC) cadets, (left) Noah Ilton, 15 and Charlie Bremner, 14, were out collecting donations for Poppy Day on Thames St today. Poppy Day is an annual day to remember those who died in war and to support those who served and survived. ATC 26 Squadron cadets were selling poppies throughout Oamaru to help support Poppy Day earlier than normal this year due to the Easter holiday being a week before Anzac Day. Both cadets told the Oamaru Mail they had received good support from locals. PHOTO/REPORT: JULES CHIN

Interest in the Netflix series filming of East of Eden within the Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust's Victorian Oamaru's Victorian Precinct is garnering national and international interest - as seen with high profile media exposure in recent days, as seen in the Otago Daily Times today. Oamaru Mail editor Brendon McMahon captured a different perspective yesterday as Clarkie adjusted the American flag atop the Old Grain Store. These views were taken from above Tyne St, now transformed with its seal covered over, and across to the Friendly Bay Reserve where the filming support infrastructure is set up.
